They got 2 1st round picks and 2 2nd round picks for him. Now the Suns have more to bargin with if they dont want us to match their offer on Gordon

Not really interested in acquiring a bunch of late 1st round picks. You can build depth that way but you won't find many quality all-pro type players.

Good for Steve Nash. One of the NBA's few good guys. I hope that he and Hill can get together on the Lakers and win a title as those two have paid some serious dues. The Lakers just jumped to the top of the NBA if they keep Gasol and Bynum as Nash and Kobe will be deadly together.

Damn, they're going to throw Kendall Marshall to the wolves, quick...

Why did they have to do a sign and trade I thought Nash was unrestricted and free to sign anywhere

Good question. I was wondering the same thing.
NBA Salary Cap FAQ
90. Why would teams or players want to do a sign-and-trade?
Teams benefit because they can get something in return for players they would otherwise lose to free agency. For players the benefits are limited. Under previous CBAs a player who qualified could receive a full Bird contract and go to the team of his choice, which encouraged the player to seek a sign-and-trade once he decided to play elsewhere. Under the current CBA a player receives the same contract via sign-and-trade (four years, 4.5% raises) that he could get by signing with his new team directly, and can receive a larger Bird contract only if he stays with his previous team. In addition, it is much simpler for the player to sign directly with his new team, as a sign-and-trade has to be agreed to by three parties rather than two. A player is really only forced to seek a sign-and-trade if he wants to go to a team that is capped-out (or doesn't have enough cap room to give the player his full starting salary) and can't sign him directly.
Another factor encouraging a player not to seek a sign-and-trade is that his new team might be weakened by losing players or draft picks in the trade. So while a sign-and-trade is a useful tool when the team does not have the cap room to sign the player directly, the player and his new team have little reason to seek a sign-and-trade when the player can be signed without involving his previous team.
In short, the NBA is weird.

Hornets per league rules cannot due a sign and trade with Houston. I think I read they could have done a sign and trade before EG signed houston's offer sheet, but now that he has signed it a sign and trade cannot be done between those 2 teams for him.

I'm assuming that when you say Houston, you mean Phoenix. If that's the case, NOH CAN do a sign and trade with PHX prior to July 11 because EG cannot sign the PHX offer until then.

Actually, since Kobe has been a Laker, Lakers point guards are basically spot up shooters. While Steve Nash is a great shooter, he's only an elite point guard when he has the ball in his hand every play. The Lakers love to run isolation plays for Kobe and Bynum, which takes the ball out of Nash's hands. I'm not sure Kobe can ever co-exist with a true point guard.
While I'd like Nash to get a ring, I will never hope the Lakers win it all. I hate that franchise more than any other franchise in sports (yes, even more than the Falcons).

I could care less who wins an NBA title. I want the Hornets to win one soon, but I am a realist and with that I have come to the realization that we aren't winning one for 2 or 3 years at least.
In the meantime I want the Lakers to win it, just in spite of Lebron.
