Thornton is an offensive player. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe he'll learn some D one day, but right now, all he is good for is scoring. Unfortunately, that style of player doesn't fit in the current defensive system. I was sad to see him go because I loved watching him play (at LSU and NO), but it was best for both him and the team. We got a better player for our system and he went somewhere where he can just score.

thornton has always had the ability to average 20+ points, but he doesnt play D consistently. he gave a half hearted effort at times on the Defensive end of the court. this trade made since for all and i'm glad he is doing well in Sacramento.

Thornton wasn't a great defender..took too many chances
but i dont see how a 6'9 PF/C is going to significantly help the Hornets' D in the western conference playoffs
especially since he and West are often the team's frontcourt big men when Emeka sits
i will say, though, that 6'8 Dejuan Blair seems to do a pretty solid job in SA..but he has a good 20-25 lbs on Landry
what is making people forget about Thornton's instant O off the bench(when he was given an opportunity) is Belinelli coming up huge lately
(knock on wood)..which wasn't the case before the break

Landry will fill a huge hole once West leaves this Summer... Also, he is averaging 21 points per game, but how many shots is he taking?

We'll see how many points he scores against his old team in a few minutes...

Also, you never know what West is going to do next year, he can opt out and we would have been stuck with some really crappy PF's.

Chris Paul invited Marcus Thornton to go train with him over the off season back home and Thornton said no he has a place to practice down here. I am sorry, but if I am a coach and see a young playe,r who has potential turn down an opportunity to better himself from going to train with an all-star I would probably get rid of his *** as well.

MT is on fire and looks like he has a bright future in this league. But Landry is killing it for us and this still looks like a good trade for the Hornets.

pc, Thornton's a solid scorer, but was a liability on defense here and now in SAC. Still, it wouldn't been a good trade if Landry hadn't filled in some gaps hurting us earlier on. There are 4-5 games that we lost due to defensive lapses, underperforming bench, CP3 nagging injuries. Extremely frustrating losses, too. We could just as easily have 43-44 wins right now instead of cusping 40 last night.

After further review I think the trade was good for both players and Landry has played very well lately. I also expect Landry to continue to improve as he gets more accustomed to the team. I guess the same can be said for Thornton.
I recant now and I do think this was a good trade. I guess I am going to have to trust Monty and Dell.
