Where are the Hornets Fans?
The good news is the Hornets are undefeated at 8 -0. What’s most disappointing is not the teams play on the court but the support or should I say, lack of support by the Hornets so called “Fans”. 14, 706 fans on a Saturday night game against the Trailblazers; and we couldn’t even sellout the arena for an undefeated team…Really!
Right now I’m more concern with this team’s long-term viability in this city more than any opponent they may face in the hive this year.

I think that flexible pricing crap is hurting sales for some games. I was going to buy some tickets to tonights game this morning, until I saw the raise in prices for tonights game.

I was there, and there was no where near that total at the game. At the tip there may have been 6,000 in their seats, maybe 9-10,000 by the second quarter. It was embarrassing.

I dont know if we were at the same game but it definitely looked like 14000 fans to me. There were a few pockets of empty seats but it was def. more than two thirds full. At the tip, the top was a little empty but thats always expected as ppl come in late but i thought it was a good but not 8-0 great crowd

I agree with you on the fact that flexible pricing is crap. But, if you think they raised the prices in tonight's game, you won't be going to a game this season. There are 4 tiers of prices. Last night was second to lowest (classic) pricing. I paid $63 for a Lower Level B pricing...pretty good price to see an undefeated team play a decent opponent.

Countdown To Kickoff
|
Here's to hoping that the area has enough pro basketball fans to support the Hornets in New Orleans whether a winner or not.
I'm not a basketball fan, but I do watch the games where I live when CST is carrying the game. If it weren't for the Hornets I would never watch an NBA game. (I can count on both hands the number of times I've sat through an NBA game prior to the Hornets coming to the Big Easy.)
Since I rarely go to New Orleans its not likely that I would go out of my way to spend an evening to watch then in the Arena. (In fact I've never been in there for any event.)
I find that two things get folks to a sporting event... 1.) They LOVE the sport and would pay any price to be there, and 2.) A fan frenzy begins that makes people feel like its the thing to do whether they are fans of the game or not.
Sadly, only choice #1 will be good enough to keep the team here long term. Glad its now a locally owned franchise.

That's a good point, and it is exactly what happened towards the end of the 07-08 season into the playoff run that year.

I was in section 114 behind the Portland bench row 23 and the two rows behind me in our section and the one to the left of us had 2-3 people in each row, 10-12 empty seats in each row. Maybe the LSU game hurt attendence.

It'll get better as the year goes on, especially after football is over. That's just how it works.
And it's not just us, Houston and Philly are also struggling with the numbers.
The thing that irks me is that sellouts are guaranteed when superstars like Kobe or Lebron come to town. We have Chris Paul, he should be just as big a draw as anyone else.

Maybe if CP3 didn't "ask to be traded" more people would be interested in investing their time and money in the team. I've been to three games so far and except for the Heat game it has been near 12K. It was just like this 2 years ago when we were the 2nd best team in the West. People will come after football season

It's like this every year. Attendance is weak in early months, then when the NFL post season is up, then we'll shoot up to #9 or so.

Right on
After the all star break is when things heat up
If this city had 4+ million we'd sell out every game. But we have to split between 3 fan bases all the time

I'm flying in for my fall break to see the Seahawks game and I'll be grabbing some Hornets-Cavs tickets Friday night.
