Decided to go back and watch the Inside NASCAR highlights from Homestead last year just to get me more pumped up for the start of this season. Still amazes me to watch what Tony, Grubb and the crew did just in that race alone. I went to my first race when I was 2 years old, and in almost 28 years of watching this sport I think that has to be the best drive in a single race of all time. So much on the line, so many things that were trying to hold him back, and yet somehow he comes through it. I could be a little biased since I am a Stewart fan, but I think it would be hard to argue that point.
Not only the best drive ever, but how about one of the most clutch Championship performances of all time in any sport. I was just so glad to be a witness to that last season, and made it all the better that he has been my favorite driver since his rookie season.
Tony's been my favorite since the USAC and IndyCar years. I've said it numerous times. Tony Stewart could drive a brick to victory lane. That performance at Homestead was one of the best driving performances I have ever seen. I certainly won't take credit away from Grubb and the team because they made some calls that helped him win, but those 3 and 4 wides off the restarts were butt puckering.
Been great weather for all the previous races, but now it's typical Florida quick rains.
They keep saying it's one of those spotty, quick rain things but if you look at the radar, it doesn't look good. There may be a gap coming up but then it looks like a big patch of rain.
Yeah forecast is for thunderstorms all afternoon tomorrow. Why didn't they just run the race tonight since it has cleared up. I have a feeling FOX had a lot of say in this.
