What the hell kind of shirt was Randy wearing?
Here's my assessment of tonight's performances:
Deandre - He's just trying too hard, and he ends up with a mediocre performance. In his defense though, this week he was less off-key than any other week.
Erika - Not bad, but nothing special
Joshua - This guy can sing anything. Well done. Not as good as last week, but it would be really hard to top that.
Skylar - She started weak, but finished strong. Not great, but definitely good.
Elise - That song, which I had never heard before, was fantastic. Excellent performance! She has a real uniqueness to her - kind of like a Corinne Bailey Rae / Norah Jones hybrid
Phillip - Very nice. He is, hands down, the most talented musician on the show. You couple that with his unique sound, and you have something special.
Hollie - They talked about how old she looked last week, and what did they do? They made her look even older this week. Her performance was pretty good though. She's my dark horse this season.
Heejun - This guy is a nut! He could not have picked a better song for his personality. He was very entertaining
Jessica - She sang it great, but it was really a bit boring to me. While I think she is a phenomenal singer, I worry that her performances are getting monotonous.
Colton - I'm not a big Colton fan, but when he first started, I thought I was going to really like the performance. That changed when he hit the chorus. It was like he tried too hard to add a rock vibe to it, and it came out sounding squeaky. I disagree with the judges. I didn't care for it.
Elise was the best tonight, and no one else came close.
Bottom 3, in my opinion: Deandre, Erika, & Heejun

They all killed last night.
Well, I purposely skipped over the Deandre part, but it looked like he got a standing O.
It's gonna be a tough cut tonight.
I believe Jessica is as good of a singer that America has seen for many years and she's only going to get better.

LOL @ skipping over. Made me chuckle. I find myself doing that when Colton performs. Deandre's kind of a love him or hate him kinda guy. Me personally, I like him, because I'm into the neosoul, R&B thing that he's trying to pull off ( a la Prince, Maxwell and even Eric Benet). The song he sang by Benet, I hadn't heard of, but I listened to it today and the guy does sing the whole song in falsetto and Deandre pulled it off. Despite all that, I only liked him this week and think he's going home, unless the judges use their "save".
But Elise.....I loved loved loved her performance.
Jessica was pretty good too coming in 2nd for me.

I think Heejun's run might be coming to an end.

He's a hard one to call. The song he sung last night by Donnie Hathaway is one of my favorites and I thought he did well. I have a feeling he'll be in the bottom 3 tonight, but won't be going home.

Many great performances last night. They should have been great since they had the opportunity to sing a song that they love and have probably performed multiple times.

They should always do that. Trying to fit a square peg into a round hole is always a bad idea.

Couldn't agree more. I hate how they make them sing a certain artist each week.

If it wasnt for my DVR, I couldn't watch this show.
Randy Jackson drives me crazy. I must skip him.
He brings nothing to the show at all.
Jessica Sanchez needs to quit the show and start getting paid for her talent.

I humbly disagree. I think it challenges them as an artist to sing outside of what they are comfortable with. Gives us a chance to see if they can make songs their own or just try to copy the original artist.
My Grandma use to say:

I agree. In the history of television, if there was ever show that needed to be recorded before watching it is American Idol.
