It is pretty rare for a movie this anticipated to meet expectations.....think this movie is going to break all kinds of box office records?

Oh what Whedon could do with that franchise! As good as this movie was XMen suits his style even better. The XMen comics he wrote were some of the best since the Chris Claremont era.

Cap and Iron Man both had very good movies but in this I felt like the characters and action were even better. Hulk was the Hulk I've always wanted to see, this raging reckless unstoppable creature but with purpose. Even the supporting characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye get a lot of compelling moments and action.
It amazes me that he managed to tell any story at all with so much action but the story was very well handled and the dialogue was outstanding. Now here's my spoiler moment.

Did you expect any less from Joss Whedon? I knew this thing was going to be a success the minute he signed on to run it. I just didn't know the specifics, but I knew it would be fantastically developed story and not just full of action scenes with each character trying to get equal face time.
Whedon didn't disappoint.

$80.5 million at the box office on Friday, the second highest single day total of all time behind $91 mil for Deathly Hallows part 2, which also has the opening weekend record of $169.2 million.

This may be the next movie we see at the theater. The last one we saw was Avatar. I watch all of the others on my 133" screen at my house.

It's not as good as The Dark Knight(still the best superhero movie ever made) but I really liked it.... but there some things that don't make sense:
****spoilers****
The biggest problem I had with it was with Iron Man taking the bomb through the portal... the bomb blows up the planet(?) and all the aliens on Earth fall dead... ***? That would make sense if they were robots and their command center was blown up, but they're life forms, not robots. That seemed like a lazy way of killing of the aliens already on Earth.
Also, how can Thor survive being thrown around by Hulk but not be able to survive dropping out of the plane in the cage? he had to 'escape' before it hit ground, but after surviving Hulk the cage hitting ground should be a walk in the park.

Anyone else think the other shield agent was hotter than Scarlett Jo?
This was great but too funny for me to rank it above The Dark Knight.
And the 3d bugged me because I sat in an aisle seat and all I saw was a reflection of the lights in my glasses, I wish I would have just seen the 2d.

Hotter? Not really. Actually it took me a while to get over the fact that Robin from How I Met Your Mother was supposed to be a ****** secret agent.
