He will not travel to far south on his tours because he doesnt like to deal with headstrong redecks.
Me and my friends often think of paying him a visit.
a very motivating visit to finish his book, so he wont die and leave it unfinished.
Last I read on his blog was how he got a new pet tiger.
Nothing on any of the books.

He used to be in Endymion, and would go to the ball there. I used to email him some in the late 90's, and he was always responsive. I honestly think he's got writers block and he's a victim of his success... he's playing around with all his endeavors, and isn't committed to finishing the series at this time.

It isn't a spoiler... just speculation on his part --
[more speculation]
it's been widely speculated that Jon isn't Ned's *******, but the son of his sister and Rhaegar... thus making the story about him. I think it's possible, but it could go in a lot of directions.

I don't mind reading speculation - just if it's a real spoiler, to make it a bit less conspicuous

I think the reason it was a let down for some fans is the fourth book is actually half of what was supposed to be the fourth book. Martin, instead of handing in a 2,000 page manuscript, cut the book in half with the sections he was most happy with being published as the fourth installment as he worked on the rest which will be the fifth. So the fifth will primarily focus on the Wall, Jon and other factions of the North that were limited in the fourth.

Its speculation, but it isn't.
Its so unbelievably obvious at this point, I don't even see it as a mystery any more.

~More speculation~
Agreed, we know Ned didn't screw anyone. He was the straightest arrow in these books. He made a promise to his sister to keep it a secret, so Robert wouldn't kill her baby. He wanted to tell Jon something before he died, and it's obvious it was his parentage.
With that being known, you have to look at the war of the usurper in a different light. It was fought over pride, and not love like was presented in the first book. Big difference in your wife being abducted, and her leaving you.

It doesn't matter. Martin will die long before this series is finished. I've resigned myself to it.
He was going slow enough without the TV series in production. Now with that added distraction (trust me, I'm psyched for it), he might never finish.

WINTER IS COMING.....

I love this series....but I learned from Robert Jordan. I won't pick up another one of these books until this guy can start cranking out some books....or lose some pounds...either way..I don't think he's going to make it.

I'm looking forward to the show but I would rather just see Martin finish the d*** books already! I was always partial to Sandor(The Hound).Would like to see whats going to become of him and Sansa Stark.

finished the series in just a matter of a couple months
I loved it
But i refuse to recommend it to anyone else until it's finished. I completely underestimated how ****** off I would be once I got to the end of Book 4, Part A with nothing even remotely on the horizon
A clerk at the bookstore says that Book 4, Part B has a release date of December 25, 2012.
seriously, Martin.... what the hell?

This is why I have become a fan of not purchasing books, videos, etc. until they are all available. I hate stopping and waiting for the next installment.

ARGH! The Mayans end the world on 12-21-2012!
But, seriously, it's really vexing. I didn't start reading the series until the third book was released and then caught up quickly and the 4th was released fairly on time. I'm not sure why he's hit this wall especially considering the 5th (4b) book was allegedly mostly written by the time the 4th was released and all he had to do was some fine tuning. This is beginning to feel like Robert Jordan all over again.
