How to have to fun Burger King.
The past several weeks, I have noticed the local Burger Kings using a deceptive practice. Before I go any furher, save the BK is trash. I work on the road and eat on the road and I like BK.
I normally never paid attention when ordering. I will ususally request a #1 or what ever with fries and a Coke. Get to the window and hand them my debit card and away I go. Well a few weeks ago, I placed an order and was asked if I wanted medium or large. Thinking that was my only two options, I would always say medium but I realized that there was a small.
I also noticed that the price on the board for the meal deals was the price for a small. The next few trips, when asked if I wanted medium or large, I would respond with "no thanks". Usually, this would confuse the hell out of the girl taking the order. I think that some of them are not even aware that they have a small. When I would say no thanks, they would get quiet for a few monets and ask me to pick one. I respond with "neither". Finally I ask if I can just get a small.
Then on a few occasions, I noticed that I was never asked what size I want. I assumed I was charged for a small and never bothered to look at the receipt. Last Friday however, I did check the recipt and sure enough, there was an extra 30 cents for the drink and 30 cents for the fries. I asked the lady at the first window what the charge was for and seh said the medium size. I nicely told here that I did not request medium and she said that it was the order takers fault at the next window.
So I pull up at the next window and asked he girl if she thought it was ok to just charge people more than what they ordered. She replied that she charged me the medium price becuase they did not have any small cups. I suggested that she should have partilayy filled up a medium cup.
So today in Opelousas, I order and was not asked what size. I get to the first window and pay, grab my receipt and drive to the next window. On the receipt, it had the extra 60 cents. The assistant manager hands me my medium drink and food and then I ask him what was that extra charge for.
He tells me for the medium size. I tell him I did not order a medium and that I found their practice of upcharging slightly bothersome. He then states that is not their policy and that I should have been asked. So I request a refund. He then has to walk to the back window and credit my debt card the 60 cents. Al the while, the line in the drive through is backing up.
From now on, this is what i will do. I will wait until I have my drink and food and then question the charge. If they want to play games, them i will continue to get a medium fry and drink at the small price and tie up their drive through.
And to the guy blowing the horn, that does not bother me one bit, I am gettng my 60 cents back.

Congratulations. You're officially an *******. You take it out on everyone else in line so you can prove a point to some minimum wage workers. I wish everyone I knew was as cool as you.

Alternatively you could make a far healthier snack at home before you leave, meaning not only do you become a far healthier person you also don't waste a ton of cash on BK all the time. And of course you don't annoy everyone else in the line that's just ordering like a normal person.

Do you realize you probably spend more than 60 cents in gasoline costs using the drive thru?

ok so my Burger King story is about the drive-thru too. I pull into the one on Clearview and as many BK drive-thrus do, that one (before it closed) had a rail around it so that if cars were behind you, you can't pull out of line. At the machine I order a whopper and the girl tells me that they are out of all burger products.
thats right - Burger King was out of burger products.
I told her I did not want any non-burger products but then had to wait through the line before I could peel out of there. Theoretically I could have been even further delayed from going somewhere else to get burger-product because I was behind a BHM.
this thread reminds me of this scene.

Easy buddy. I would assume you would not like paying more than you should when you go to any store. I am sure if you filled your car up with gas and the pump showed $3.77 but you were chrged $4.37 that you would complain. What in the hell does this have to do with being cool. I am not taking anything out on anyone. All BK has to do is properly charge me for what I ordered.
I wish I had money to throw away like you do.

Been down that road before. Pack a little lunch and stick it in an icechest to bring to work. Pain in the butt. Plus I really do not eat there that often but when i am stuck on the road and busy, that is where I stop.

Just tell them you want a small to begin with so you don't waste countless people's time being a complete *** for no reason.

You're paying for the medium size that you're getting and playing games with it. It's not the same as being overcharged. You know you want a small and refuse to order it to prove some ridiculous point at the expense of everyone else in line. Good for you. I order a small.

If you've recognized this as a problem, why not just stipulate exactly what you want, including size, when you place your order?
Ex: I'd like a number 1, regular-sized/small-sized, etc...
Is it really worth the aggravation otherwise?

Exactly. If you would be proactive about it rather than being a ****** on principle for .60 freaking cents everyone would be that much better off. "I'd like #1, small size with a coke" would remedy your situation without the "Burger King is conspiring against me schtick".

I've never had them say "medium or large" and not had the knowledge that there was a small option because, and this may come as a shock, there's a gigantic menu in front of me when I order. They do the "medium or large" thing to put the idea in your head, and most people probably bite on it. Good for them, they know their market.

Who orders a small anyway? If you're going to eat fast food, it should at least fill you up. I don't think a single whopper and small fries is going to fill a grown man up.
.....Don't ask me how I know what a #1 is without looking it up .
