Those were the days. We only had TBS.
Yes. The Saints and the Braves. Both stunk and never won anything. They could snatch defeat from the gaping maw of victory like no others besides the Cubs and they were on every single day on TBS as far back as when remote controls had wires.

Sometimes I really love baseball, the stories that come out of it can be so amazing. The Braves won and the Phillies lost today, which is good, but that Phillies-Red Sox game today was awesome. The Red Sox had called up a player from AAA Pawtucket yesterday and stuck him in the lineup today. He is Daniel Nava, a 27 year old rookie who has been kicking around the minor leagues for years hoping to get to the show. On his first pitch of his first major league at bat, he hits a grand slam. His parents had flown in and rushed to the stadium hoping to see their son play, they got quite the show.
Braves trade Yunel Escobar and pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes to the Blue Jays for SS Alex Gonzales and Minor League pitcher Tim Collins and shortstop Tyler Pastornicky. Yunel is younger and one of the best fielding SS's in the game but he was batting only .238 with no HR's. Gonzales is batting .259 with 17 homers and 50 RBI's. So this will add much needed offense.
I was waiting for that trade. I watched a game last week and it looked like he wasn't even trying. There was a double that he should have made and he didn't even attempt the throw then another play where he lolly-popped a throw to first base and almost got his first baseman injured making the tag.
Another walk-off win tonight, Heyward hitting a run scoring single, knocking in Rick Ankiel(a great pickup). In fact, the Braves have hit gold with all of their late season pickups this year. Ankiel, Alex Gonzales and hopefully that trend will continue with the trade for Derrek Lee. As soon as he puts on the Atlanta uniform, the stink of Chicago losing will quickly go away. The plan is for Lee to play first base and for Troy Glaus to replace Chipper at Glaus' original position, third base.
Derek Lee's first weekend series will be against the Cubs. I hope he hits 4 homeruns. Braves and Phils battle for first will make for some great baseball with the Braves winning NL East of course.
Comeback victories don't get much better than against the Cubs on Friday. A triple for three on your last strike of the game to take the lead is pretty sweet.

Yeah, plays like that help me remember how exciting baseball can be, it's not most of the time. But it can be very exciting. But dammit, they just can't pull away from the Phillies.
