Mail boxes
Mail boxes have a red flag to inform the mail person that there is mail in the box. Why can't there be a white flag that the mail person raises to let the owner know mail has been dropped off?

OR they could just raise the RED flag. Flag up (somethings in the box), Flag Down (Box is empty).

I prefer not to have anything signalling that my mail has not been checked yet. Too easy to see if someone hasn't been home to empty their mailbox in a day or two.

That's far too primitive!
How about putting in a pressure sensitive panel in the floor of the mailbox, and create an app that will notify your smartphone when mail has arrived (as being triggered by the panel sensor).
There's an app for that.

We don't have a flag on my mailbox, yet the female mailman seems to find our outgoing mail with no trouble. I'm guessing she's highly trained.
