Need to let off some steam, today sucked
Well my fellow SR brothers and sisters today has been a trying day....to top off a really bad six months.
Today my wife was fired from her job and we are gonna be skimming by the skin of our teeth till she finds a new one.....all the while I have been looking for a new one since I hit the ceiling with my company and the 1% raise I got a few weeks ago was a slap in the face that made me decide enough was enough.
Don't know if her company is going to fight an unemployment claim almost sounds as if they are....to top it off her boss flew in to Houston today, my wife picked her up at Bush Intercontinental Airport and after sitting down in the car next to her told her she was fired and my wife still had to drive her to her freaking hotel in the Galleria!!! They are coming to pick up her company vehicle tomorrow.
This tops off a miscarriage my wife had of twins three weeks ago and another miscarriage 6 months ago....we have had to wait to get pregnant because of two bouts of cancer for me and a medical issue for her. She has been super down and depressed and was just gong through the motions of her job but nothing that should have lead to termination.
If that s not enough...once she texted me and said she was fired and then called me...I had to cancel our surprise 10th anniversary trip I had just booked...no way we can afford it now.
It has been one thing after the other for the past few years... am not gong to sleep tonight, been applying to jobs, and stunned, just stunned. My wife even asked if I could apply for her position (it pays 12,000 more than my job and I knew her job better than she did) and her ex-boss said that wouldn't be a good idea and that they wouldn't even look at my resume.
The Freaking Saints better win the Freaking Super Bowl this year
off my chest...hoped it would make me feel better....not so much.
Maybe it just me, but there is no way in hell I'd drive my now ex-boss to the Galleria right after getting fired. I would have drove straight to my house and then handed the keys to my ex-boss, and then told her she had exactly 60sec to get herself and the vehicle off of my property.

I know what you mean... I asked the wife why she did it...I would have told her to get the hell out of the car at the airport and get a cab....she said she was in shock. Her boss was an idiot and very uncaring individual. My wife ironically had both miscarriages the week before national sales meetings. After the first one she told her boss and her boss said and I quote, "That's too bad, you can always adopt, you going to be on the plane on Sunday right?"
She worked for a "family company" that suppose to treat everyone like "family" but they really didn't give a ****.

Sad story man. Best of luck. This shows that corporations are not people. Only advice I can give is try your best to network and get a government job. Tough times are coming for alot of people and at least you are ahead of the curve.

Your wife should be commended for being able to restrain herself from opening up a can of whoop-a** on her ex-boss right on the side of I-45!
The ex-boss is obviously black-hearted and cold. Just remember this:
Karma is a biotch!!
I get the feeling that this may very well be a blessing in disguise.
Had almost the exact situation happening to me ten years ago, minus the ridiculously sinister firing sequence. Cancer (me) followed by financial distress and miscarriages for my wife. I won’t tell you that everything will be fine, because I don’t know the future, or the intimate details of your life. But I will tell you that once you finally hold your child for the first time, you will appreciate the miracle that it took to get him or her safely into this life more than you ever thought possible. I’ll say a prayer for you tonight.
Oh, not to make this about me, but hopefully to show where it can realistically go from there. Cancer free for over ten years, still scraping by, but making it, two wonderful children (9 and 6), and the perspective to know that you can make it through the tough times life can throw at you.
