I mean really though that was Shogun at his worst and Vera at his best. Shogun needs to get his crap together.

That's a nice way of not giving Vera any credit at all.

Vera looked better than he has on a long time, but he passed on multiple opportunities when he could have taken control. You can't play the counterpunch game with Rua...he isn't afraid to come in and tag you. Vera had the perfect opportunity early on to mount Rua but just laid on top and didn't try to advance his position.

Yeah, now that I think about it more there were plenty of opportunities for him to take control or show a killer instinct. I do think he still looked really good last night and I hope he continues to go at it.

I'd rather see Shogun v Machida again to determine who loses to Jones next.
I wonder if the UFC can or will one day force Jones up to HW and open up the LHW division. I bet Anderson Silva would jump to 205 if Jones wasn't waiting for me.
Regardless, great card Saturday night.

The UFC doesn't want Jones going to HW or AS to fight GSP. Really they are rather idiotic matchmakers. Just think of all the money they could make.

Melvin disappoints me alot, he gets in control of a fight and just finds a way to lose, Ben hen vs Diaz will be awesome

Well, to me, the ultimate way to win a fight would be to end it early while taking little to no damage in return. In that vein, Machida certainly won more impressively than Shogun.

Melvin opened strong and got my hopes up, but the cowboy regrouped and tagged Melvin so cleanly after connecting with his shin.
Honestly, I thought Frankie took the main event, but rounds 3-5 were quite close after the 1-1 split for the first two. It just goes to show the role that the subjectivity of the judges can play when you leave it their hands. The judge who scored it for Edgar had it 4-1 in his favor.
Regardless, I'm pumped for a Benson Henderson vs. Nick Diaz fight.

Dana White with a presser in a little over an hr regarding UFC 151. Rumor is that Hendo has a hurt knee. His twitter showed that he trained last night though. Guess we will have to wait and see.

UFC 151 canceled, Henderson out with a mcl injury and Machida will fill in. Event takes place on Sept. 22 in Toronto.
