Shows from your youth that do/do not hold up

the 'movies these days' thread got me thinking

DO hold up:
TV shows:
Barney Miller, Taxi, Soap, Bob Newhart

Movies:
The Jerk, Bad News Bears, Star Wars, Indiana Jones

DO NOT hold up
TV:
Happy Days (Laverne/Shirley, Mork/Mindy), Love Boat, Dukes of Hazard

Movies:
Brian's Song (this was SUCH an important movie for me when i was young - i was STUNNED to see how bad it was)

Hardcastle & McCormick. Loved that show as a kid. Saw the pilot episode a while back and it was soooooo bad. The theme song still kicks butt though.

The Dukes was one of my faves when I was a kid. I had a General Lee hot wheels car and played with it all the time. Watching it now is good in a throwback kind of way, but if it was a new show today it wouldn't get a second look from me. Weird how that works.

I still love the intro music tho.

Just about any 80's cartoon is very difficult to revisit as an adult. I tried watching He-Man a while back just to see how it held up and didn't last five minutes.

Any of those ABC TGIF sitcoms are impossible for me to sit through. They're like parodies played earnestly. Truly it was a different world where Urkel became a cultural icon and Full House was the highest rated shown on TV.

Twin Peaks (technically a show from my youth) holds up great, save for the second season flaws that were flaws when it initially aired.

The most glaring example of a show that doesnt hold up to me is Welcome Back Kotter... It's just painfully unfunny; it makes you wonder how in the world it ever became a hit-- did people just have a completely different sense of humor 40 yrs ago than they do now?? I do enjoy watching it when it's on, but just for the nostalgia value.

Two shows that were favorites as a kid for me were Moonlighting and LA Law; other than a few bits and pieces on YouTube, i havent seen actual episodes of them in years-- but i have a feeling those two shows would hold up well.

As for the Dukes of Hazzard, Chips, A Team, cartoons, etc-- i cant tell if it's just the fact that a 7 yr old has totally different tastes than a grown adult that accounts for them not holding up, or that they were just bad... Probably a little of both.

Sanford and Son. ALWAYS as good as I remember. Also MASH holds up as classic.

A-Team and Miami Vice seem cheesy now.

Daisy Duke doesn't seem so sexy anymore. Tame by today's standards

80s cartoons, i agree with the exception of ducktales and disney's gummi bears. twin peaks was the best.

haven't seen Jonny Quest in awhile but i bet it's still great
