I have no really opinion on homosexuality, I have my moral beliefs, but thats just it, they are MY moral beliefs, I believe all people should be treated with respect and treated fair. Never understood the whole hate gays thing. I rather hate thieves, murders, and rapists. Why should I hate homosexuals or any group for that reason?
Anyway, seems the way things are going things have gotten more acceptable over the decades. Multi-racial marraige, single moms, stay at home dads, same sex marraige, men getting pedicures lol.
Say 40 years from now, what things that are taboo now, do you think would be generally accepted in society?

Hookers and blow.
Honestly, it seems like as society tightens the reins in one area it loosens them in another. We still don't get the need for sex education in schools, but nudity is more and more common on basic cable channels. I'm kind of for all nudity, all the time.
We raised the drinking age to 21 for no good reason. Binge drinking is higher on college campuses now than it was when I was in school. 19-year olds can vote and carry a rifle for their country but cannot have a beer.

Go to a public place and start discussing sex with your friends loud enough for others to hear it. You'll get looks from amusement to disgust. Do it long enough and I bet the police show up.

i agree with the first paragraph, but as to the second paragraph-- i kinda hope it doesn't become okay for sex to be discussed out in the open as if we were talking about the weather or something.. i don't like it when sex is villified, but i do like that it is somewhat taboo and kept under wraps, it makes it hotter IMO.. kinda like a hot girl wearing conservative clothes, it leaves something to the imagination.

Hmmmmm...
On what has been stated:
Pedophilia (or, better said, sex between an adult and a high school aged person). For the most part - no. I think there should be a little relaxation of the overzealous prosecution of a person who is just over 18 and a person who is just under 18 - or for that matter within a year or so of age (in some states you can be a day apart in age but if that day happens to be a birthday, you're labeled a sex offender for life if caught). On the other hand, relations between even a 17 (and definitely younger) year old and someone who is 10+ years their senior won't be so easily accepted because it leans more and more into the area of predatory behavior on the part of the adult with greater and greater potential emotional damage to the young person.
Bestiality - No. No way. It will and does happen, but it will never be acceptable in mainstream society - not even close, IMO.
Legalization of some drugs, particularly marijuana - Yes, but I think it may happen more in controlled environments (like the opium houses of old).
Prostitution - Yes.
Nudity on television - Yes.
Other things I think may happen:
Cloning of humans - Well, it will happen but it will likely be a while before it's acceptable. On the other hand, there's too much potential for vast amounts of money to be made from it.
Open marriages and swinging - maybe

Weed being legal nationwide, I could see that happening in the next few years.

And we still have the issue of treating women like sluts if they enjoy sex just as much as men do.

All three points are due to religious beliefs, mainly Christianity (not supposed to have sex before marriage, etc).

No chance.
There are 7 states (at last check) where atheists are banned from holding public office. Personally if it got challenged it should definitely be found as unconstitutional, but the state constitutions forbid it. Atheists are found lower on the "trust" scale than any religious group, less people would vote an open atheist for public office than any other religion, and are the least desirable group for a potential son- or daughter-in-law.

In my time I have seen riding a motorcycle and tattoos become socially acceptable to most. Although many older people will still stare at those with tattoos and judge the motorcycle riders to some extent.
I think in the near future you will see weed smoking legalized thus making it less taboo as well as prostitution. Basically things that cost alot of money that could be taxable and have shown the possibility to possibly work.
I also think that the people preparing for dooms day are looked at as strange, etc. I believe it will become less taboo and be categorized more as survivalist.
I could also see more people accepting of Barney Rubble as one of their favorite actors!

Dont you know? They increased the drinking age so that teens can snort bath salts. If you dont sport a beer in your hand, you're not advertising drinking. BUT its perfectly ok to snort bath salt and chew your buddy's face off!
What about sex on the alter of a church? Shouldnt they allow that one? Of course not when ppl are there, but its a house is it not? Maybe not your house but your confined from the general public at certain times maybe?? That might be worth looking into

Pedophilia.
Ok, so not like with 8 year olds... but with 15 to 18 year olds, sure. The fashion industry has already moved past the teenybopper disney crowd to cause a reaction as miley cyrus played the last shocking note there. Now they have moved to sexualizing the pre-teens, so that leaves the teenagers as the socially acceptable and easily, exploitable croud. And as the girls that grew up talking to internet predators throughout their entire youth... become the majority adults, this will become less and less of an issue for the teenagers.
Also with the steroids we are feeding the kids in all of our food products, they are developing earlier and earlier physically.
Exhibit A.

And another thing I strongly disagree with, but I think pot will become legal eventually.
