That's not what the rule says. The rule says you continue to play on a fumble till some one recovers it. The mistake was blowing the whistle.

Okay, not sure what your point is, the whistle was BLOWN, so based on the rules the ball should of been ours, so yes that is what the rules say based on the situation.

No. I know it's crazy but on a fumble you disregard the whistle till some one recovers the ball. There's a thread on the main board about it where Piera explains the rule

Well that is exactly the opposite of what i've heard. In that case then the Broncos should of gotten the ball back earlier on that backwards pass, but the officials told Fox the same thing that i understood. So, it seems that the refs really have no idea what they are doing. Not surprising at all.

Completely unnecessary too. The refs have made a number of questionable calls so far. The missed lateral being the most obvious.
