Am I Missing Something Here?

Okay, so here is the deal... where I live the only available form of internet is dial-up and expensive satellite. Recently, I got the new Samsung Blackjack from cingular with the unlimited data usage for $20 a month. the other day I finally figured out how to tether it to my new MacBookPro = internet from anywhere and everywhere all the time ? Is there something I could be overlooking or is it that simple.

Just don't want to wind up with a $5,000.00 bill next month

http://forums.cingular.com/cng/board...cending&page=1 is a thread on the subject. The unlimited data plan doesn't cover tethering so you'll be risking a bill, but I'm not sure how strict Cingular is about it. Reading more threads at the Cingular forums or Howard Forums might give you more answers.

Speed could be dialup (Edge) or up to 1.5mbps/250kbps with 3G. Alltel should be another wireless data option in your area, expect 500-800kbps down and 100-140kbps up around I20. I'd check with Bayou to see if they have any coverage expansion plans before signing a new contract.

My understanding when I bought my Cingular Blackberry Pearl was that my unlimited data plan included when I used it to get my laptop online. Then I went to the beach and set it up. One of my favorite bands released their new album while I was there and I wanted it, so I downloaded it using the Pearl. My next bill - $800 in data charges! I crapped my pants thinking I'd just bought a $800 CD but I called them and they said it was a billing mistake and that that was covered under my plan. Whew!

BUt I better check again
