I went to ATT when I dumped comcast for directv. I am peaking at about 700kb/s on my ATT directxtreme 6.0 on a linksys wireless router. Does that sound about right? Do you have any suggestions on increasing speed?

Same speed and ISP here. They really need to bump our 10mbps tier up to 20mbps like their Texas markets.

Depends if it's 700kb/s or 700kB/s. 700kB/s would be about 5.6mbps which is close to your maximum speed.
Adjusting the number of connections to Astraweb is the best way to optimize speeds. Using SSL or non standard ports can also speed up downloads on some ISPs. I use 18 Astraweb and 2 Highwinds (via my ISP) connections and easily saturate my 10mbps line. Slow speeds like 10/6/etc can normally be saturated with just a couple connections which can be better if you have speed issues while browsing web pages when downloading.

It is KB/s. I saw your earlier post on SSL so I'm going to try that server anyway. Thanks again! Greatly appreciated!

you might want to get a WDTV Live and an external hard drive. I took the plunge and i'm never going back. HD rips are nice!

I've read conflicting information regarding .iso's on the WD TV Live. Will it play them?
If they can and they ever get netflix I will probably buy three of them.

Yup all you do is download them and put them on the external. Then plub the hard drive and the player plays them. I only play x264 (MKV) and avi files. Mostly x264.

I haven't tried any but from reports on the avsforum it will play an ISO but it will not show the main menu. It will just go straight to the movie.

I got all this up and running but I have only had success with MP3's (nothing with any compression) I have read all of Slycks stuff and watched his videos and feel like I have a handle on the basics. But when I use binsearch, I am not seeing the whole groups or something. I hit create NZB and then after grab it gets the file I click it in my download folder (I let winRAR set itself to default) it opens winRAR but when I unpack them, I cant use them. On top of that my antivirus is blocking almost everything for spyware and virus but if I click the scan button on winRAR, it does not find anything. I also got a virus when I temporarily disabled it to try and work around the issue. Pretty sure that came from a Rosseta Stone file or an audiobook. I am not giving up so does anyone have any advice?

Are you seeing files like...
File.01.rar
File.02.rar
File.02.rar
File.rar
You need to right click File.rar and select Extract Here. It helps if you have 7.zip installed also.
If you don't have Alt.binz you should get it. It automatically unrars everything and fixes broken files some of the time. If not Quick Par cures all.
Edit: Since you are just learning I would highly suggest NZB Matrix because Binsearch takes a while to master. Also with NZB Matrix you will know if something is wrong with the file beforehand because people leave comments about broken files and viruses. I've never gotten one.

One or the other. Both are tools for the same task.
