Galaxy S3 vs. Iphone
Currently there are 3 types of people in this world. People that have an Iphone, people that prefer Android, and folks that could care less about smart phones. The last group mentioned is fading rapidly.
My wife has the Iphone 4S. I currently have the Droid X, but am eligible for upgrade.
I prefer bigger screens, removable batteries/memory, and Flash. My wife prefers the Iphone. To each his/her own.
Messing around with my wife's phone, one of the first things I've noticed is that Siri is remarkably incompetent. But somehow, she remains to be a selling point for whatever reason.
I plan on using my upgrade eligibility to snatch up this Galaxy S3. Since I have pledged my allegiance to Android, I feel like this is the phone I've ultimately been waiting for. And obviously it's suppose to rival the new iphone in sales.
I'm not here to bash the iphone. I apologize to iphone owners if I came across that way (as I am a bit biased). I am just curious as to everyone's preference, and if anyone is in the same boat as me waiting for this new beast of a phone to hit the shelves?
On a side note, I've been with Verizon since my wife and I moved back stateside in 2009. We initially bought the unlimited data plan for $30, and have since been grandfathered in since Big Red decided to stick it to newcomers with the removal of that option.
Now it seems with this upgrade to a 4G device, I am ultimately going to have to pay for data which is going to suck. But I've come to the conclusion that this is a small price to pay for a pretty beefy little piece of technology. Or maybe that's just me trying to justify being a slave to capitalism?

Bigger screen, that is all.

I was looking at the Galaxy S2 or EVO LTE but with the S3 coming out soon, I think I'm gonna wait and get that. What I don't like about the EVO is the battery is no longer removable and that's a deal breaker for me. The G3's battery is removable, so I'm gonna go with that.
The reason I like both the LTE and G3 over the iPhone is the bigger screen.

I was in the same situation. I went in to the Verizon store with the intentions of an iPhone and left with the Galaxy Nexus. If the Galaxy S3 is better than the Nexus, I would definitely stay with the Android. My Nexus is insane. Only thing that sucks is the battery, but so does the iPhones.
The 4G is crazy fast.

I'm curious as to whether or not you're in the minority on this one?
One of my wife's complaints with my Droid X (4.3" screen) was that it was too big and far less practical.

I find it comical he wants a bigger screen over 4G. 3G is horrible. We even have 4G out here in the boonies.
I have the 2100mAh battery in my Nexus and it still blows. I also have horrible service inside my house, so that may contribute.

I'm no guru when it comes to this sort of stuff, but I'm figuring the quicker processor actually helps with battery life. Initially I thought it would have a negative effect.

The comparisons are close. I'd go with the Galaxy for sure. Just keep a charger nearby :-)

4G will become more of a consideration when I'm able to use it. My HTC Evo's battery life sucks already and 4G doesn't work half the time. If it's much improved with the S3, I'll be really happy.
Regarding screen size, to each his own, but I much prefer a larger screen for browser viewing and messages. Being that I'm deaf, use the data only plan and no voice, the bigger screen works for me.

I have the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and my battery life is pretty good. I unplug it from the charger, go to work, use it at work almost regularly. I have enough battery life to get home and continue to use it for a little while until it warns me I have 30% battery life left.
You guys with battery issues; are you shutting down unneeded apps and turning of certain things life wifi and gps when it's not necessary to use it?

Just a quick note on Siri. It was released way before it was ready but is continually evolving. It basically had to be released to "learn" from users. So don't give up on it yet, it's still in the baby stage.
