power button blinking red

does anybody have a reason why my computer power button is blinking red.it won't power up.i tried another power supply.its a hp compaq p4 dc7600.

Sounds like you have a bad motherboard. That would be my guess at least.

There is also the possibility that there is a problem in the connection of one of the cards. (sound card, video card, ram, etc) In that case, the solution would be to unplug the computer, open it up and just remove and replace each card. then close and power up.
