Verizon/AT&T cell phone signal in the Gulf of Mexico..

any recreational boaters or offshore workers out there who know, any way or ways, to improve phone and data signal out in the gulf? lets say 10-60 miles out or so. I have looked into repeaters and boosters. Boosters, i heard, are shady. Repeaters are very expensive so i want to be sure this will work 30 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. Thanks in advance for all help.

Man, I sure miss my 3 watt bag phone. I still have a large cellular antenna on my boat that looks just like a VHF antenna. I've always wondered if it would work with my iPhone. It just sits up there for no reason.

ATT will roam on the offshore network if you are near platforms. Sprint and ATT have a range if about 13-15 miles. Verizon is often less than 10.
