Do White Evangelical Leaders want Romney to win?
pure speculation here:
but i think it's entirely possible that white evangelical church leaders are just fine with Obama winning
two things -
- if romney loses it forces the GOP to continue to pander to the evangelicals
- if Obama wins, the money keeps rolling into the churches (he represents such a ready made "please help us fight... by donating...")
what say you all?

I don't know if it's that (the above) so much; I think it's less cynical, and more that the white evangelical church leaders just haven't bought in to Romney at this point. There are a lot of people that may not like President Obama, but that just can't bring themselves to buy into a Romney Presidency at this point. There is a lot of legitimate skepticism towards Romney.

I think Obama's increasing support for gay marriage will force them to support Mitt. I ripped this thought off from MBS.

I believe you give them too much credit for ability to reason.

No. The ability to appoint Supreme Court Justices is motivation enough to side with Romney. I think Evangelicals and other social conservatives could live with four more years of Obama except for judicial appointments. If Romney has any sense, he will make the judiciary a central issue.

I don't know enough about the ruling itself to know whether I agree with it on legal principles. However, I am in favor of wholesale campaign finance reform - including a constitutional amendment, if necessary, to deal with the 1st Amendment issues. Super PACs are particularly obscene.

I imagine that White Evangelical leaders genuinely want a Republican to succeed. The ones that have a problem with Romney being a Mormon probably think Obama is a Muslim, so they'd rather a Republican Mormon than a Democrat Muslim. And the others would take an anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage Republican over a pro-gay marriage, pro-abortion Democrat every day of the week.
Now the right wing media and blogosphere? I think people like Hannity, Rush, and Malkin secretly hope that Obama wins again. Dem-bashing is easier when a Democrat is in the White House.

That was your question? Sounds like a joke, or rhetorical at best. I would have never answered that as it doesn't seem like a real question.
