Well, I hope Tepco has intentionally removed part of the structure in connection with the accelerated (somewhat) time line:

AP: Bulging wall at Unit 4 renews concerns
Walls at Reactor 4 supporting fuel pool bulging. TEPCO says "don't worry", but TEPCO has suspect credibility. New investigation ordered.

Buckling at Unit No. 4 was likely caused by a quake
So, there was another 5.2 quake near Fukushima the other day...

Not good at all. Strange how we don't hear from health studies. There has to be an increase in cancer and birth defects by now.

Japan is a very small and well educated country. If they're not worried, I'm not worried.
There are naturally occuring radioactive deposits all over the world, and nature adapted to them eons ago.

My In-laws are so worried that they are planning to move from the Tokyo area to Hokkaido as soon as they can get their house sold. It doesn't help that geologists are forecasting another huge earthquake in the Kanto region in the next 5 to 10 years. Miyako and I want to pay them a visit with our son but they keep asking us to stay away until they have moved.
My Mother-in-law came to Texas, for a visit. She told me it was very stress reducing to spend a month on steady ground. The quakes are very frequent around Tokyo since the Sendai quake. She's planning to come for a longer visit in December. Perhaps with my Father-in-law in tow. Miyako has suggested they consider immigrating to the US but I don't think they'll seriously consider that.

I certainly hope the Japanese don't politicize and scare monger their nuclear plant leakage, but use logic and reason. It always works better.
You know, Japan's nuke plants worked perfectly. The failure was in the diesel backup generators that went under the tsunami floodwater. If they raise the generators up a few feet, this accident can not repeat itself.
We have enough known natural gas reserves to last 250 years, and that will probably double in a few years. With all that cheap gas, we don't currently need nukes. But it's good to know my great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandchildren can fall back on nukes until solar and wind become viable around the 27th century.

If you read down the story at the end it references a study done on radiation exposures at Chernobyl and reduced immunity/increased susceptibility to disease.

I know there are bigger stories than this right now but....
» Ground under Fukushima Unit 4 sinking, structure on verge of complete collapse Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!
Quote:
According to the Secretary of former Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, the ground beneath Unit 4 has already sunk by about 31.5 inches since the disaster, and this sinking has taken place unevenly. If the ground continues to sink, which it is expected to, or if another earthquake of even as low as a magnitude six occurs in the region, the entire structure could collapse, which would fully drain the cooling pool and cause a catastrophic meltdown.
“If Unit 4 collapses, the worse case scenario will be a meltdown, and a resultant fire in the atmosphere. That will be the most unprecedented crisis that man has ever experienced. Nobody will be able to approach the plants … as all will have melted down and caused a big fire,” said Murata during the interview. “Many scientists say if Unit 4 collapses, not only will Japan lie in ruin, but the entire world will also face serious damages.”
