Right now, are Romney's taxes really a big issue? There are a plethora of other things to base the decision of who to vote for, where this just looks petty.

This is what happens in politics when you can't run on your own record or cannot talk positively about yourself. If you can't convince others to vote for you, then you convince them to vote against the other guy. I think both Obama and Romney will do this in droves this election cycle. It will be a bloodsport and messier than 2 girls 1 cup.

Had Romney not spent the last 18 months running against everything he's ever done, said or stood for as an elected official it would be one thing, but he has. If Romney's record as governor wasn't so similar to obama's as president, then perhaps, but it is. If Romney's career in business amounted to building anything more than a bunch of investment vehicles and wealth he'd be able to honestly run on his experience building business, but it doesn't.
Let's face it. Romney was born on third base and hit a double. He's made himself fabulously wealthy by using his connections, resources and acumen to make a bunch of money, but I don't think it's accurate to say he's built anything else. He presided over a pretty lackluster Massachusetts and he's a complete flip-flopping hypocrite on nearly every values issue he's ever touched so it leads me to believe he's nothing more than a blank canvass or, more accurately, he's a full scale model of what a real person should be and you dress him up, give him some canned speech and wind him up and see where he goes.

C'Mon, you aren't that clueless. It could be that he is guilty of the Bain issue, fraudulent reporting to SEC or/and FEC, or, any of the stuff dtc mentioned a few posts back. Either way, this topic pressures him to release his taxes, which is the real goal...not just Bain per say.
The longer he holds out, the worse/more guilty he will look.

Not really. Romney could marginalize him. Say first it's my dog on the roof, a bogus war on women, voter id to alienate the African American community, and now my taxes. All of this is bogus. I am insulted your campaign and yourself accuse me of these things and you should be ashamed and apologize for intentionally misleading the people. Oh for future reference in case you say I am avoiding the subject.... My favorite color is green. President Elect Romeny will annihilate Predsident Obama in the debates.

This post is nothing more than your hopes and spin. The dog on the roof is silly, but if you don't think the anti-abortion flip flop Romney has engaged in is offensive to the majority of women then you need to get out more. If you don't think the voter ID issue is exactly what the guy from PA described it as - a way for Rs to win by excluding voters - then you're in denial as there is no documented voter fraud.
As for marginalizing Obama, that's what he's been doing since he declared he was running. To hear him say it, Obama's raised taxes, killed babies, destroyed the middle class and stolen toys from babies and none of it is true. And, if you think Romney is going to out talk Obama in a debate then you're so bent by your own political needs that you've ignored the reality that Obama is a gifted speaker and Romney is stiffer than his finest french cuffed shirt.

I think you forget the church where he was embarrassing himself in his interview with the pastor in 2008. Uh uh uh is what we heard. He spoke in platitudes against McCain and McCain is horrible. You along with many other liberals are bent on Obama in a debate being the great communicator. It's doomsday for President Obama. Don't worry your business will be much better with president elect Romney.

I don't think it was that big of an issue because if it was the SEC would have come down on him. They haven't so why do we care? You like being upset at somebody because they are happy?

Where to start??? Romney changing his mind is a war on women...while Obama's job policies have had a huge impact on women more than most groups. I would be willing to bet if you ask one of the women who have lost a job or who haven't been able to find one under this president, a filp flop on abortion isn't that big of a deal.
Now on to the idea that voter ID laws are a way to exclude legal voters. I am all for stopping any requirement for voters to have to present a ID if the liberals will go along with the idea that I don't need a ID to buy a gun. We require a ID to buy a beer, or Sinus medication. For anyone to say they can't get a ID to cast a vote is a lame excuse.
Obama is a great speaker....that is it. Nothing more than a carnival crier or a snake oil salesman. He can lay down a line of BS but does nothing to back it up. He is the poste boy for a empty suit.

Sux doesn't it.
Obama's campaign was ready for this. Actually, all the Dems, after all the swift-boating, Muslim declaring, and alien declaring from the other side.
Gonna be a fun ride to November. Hey, we may actually witness a stabbing this year, ala Burr-Hamilton.

I just don't know where you guys dig this stuff up. I don't know a single woman who's not an anti-abortion zealot who thinks Obama's job policies are worse than Romney's current position on abortion which truly limits women's freedom or his flip flopping. The analogy of guns and driving requiring id to voting is laughable, as well, but it's not the requirement to have ID that bothers me. It's the intention of the right to use the id requirement as a tool to disenfranchise voters that's offensive. moreover, the ability of you and many others on the right to blatantly overlook the direct statements of those involved and the constitutional implications is troubling.
Still, I have to admit, I have so little respect for the intellectual integrity of most on the right that nothing surprises me. They cry Obama's a liar about his book while overlooking SEC docs from Romney and his direct quotes. they call Kerry a flip flopper and overlook Romney's break dancing on every single issue. Obama hung out with Rev. Wright. Romney's church found blacks to be subhuman while he was still doing missionary work.
"Equivalence Unnoticed and Ignored" should be the title of a book about this election.

This issue, exacerbated by Romney's stonewalling on taxes, is going to grow legs.
The simple issue as I understand it is whether Romney, as CEO and sole shareholder in the post-1999 years - fully reported his earnings, or whether he did not report them, and socked them away in havens to avoid paying taxes.
The guy wants to be President. He wants to be the top elected public official in the country, and yet he can't share his tax returns?
This one aint going away.
