Maybe I can write for Newsweek. I "connected the dots" quite easily about what Obama said about why he approved more off shore drilling and then why he now sees there are safety question re: the MMS. I had no problem following that at all.

Being critical of a speech is not "jumping ship". It's called holding your elected leader accountable. I know its a news flash to people like you, but it IS possible to be critical of a president, and still approve of him or support him.
I guess Chris lost that lovin feeling creeping up his leg. Good to see these guys deviate from the ordinary blind support and give some criticism where it is necessary.
I am not all that surprised at Matthews because he is a little more fair than a lot of the so called liberal media just like there are 1 or 2 in that number on the conservative side -- Olberman is a little more surprising to me though --

Rhetoric can only take you so far. This man's whole political career is based on it and we expect him to lead this country?? That speech last night was embarrassing.

I'm not surprised at all about Olberman. He thrives off of finding people being stupid and though I only watched part of it, that speech was BAD.

Daybreaker it may not be "jumping ship", but you have to admit that when political commentators like Chris Mathews and Keith Olbermann are judgmental or critical of President Obama it is quite a turn of events. They have been extremely partisan throughout the campaign and first two years of his presidency. I think their comments are mirroring the general publics about the job he is performing. The latest Rasmussen poll shows his approval rating at 42% with the strongly disapproving at 44% versus strongly approving at 24%. His lack of executive leadership is starting to show when faced with mounting crises and waning support from the left.
