Turns out Where the Wild Things Are author was a nutcase at the end

Author Maurice Sendak spoke of desire to kill Bush, Cheney - msnbc.com Entertainment

"Bush was president, I thought, 'Be brave. Tie a bomb to your shirt. Insist on going to the White House,'" Sendak told Groth. "And I wanna have a big hug with the vice president, definitely. And his wife, and the president, and his wife, and anybody else that can fit into the love hug."
"And then we’ll blow ourselves up, and I’d be a hero," Sendak said. "To hell with the kiddie books. He killed Bush. He killed the vice president. Oh my God. ... It would have been a very brave and wonderful thing. But I didn’t do it; I didn’t do it."

I would have thought he was nuts for saying that about Cheney and Bush, but then he threw the wives in and brought it to a whole new level

No.

Where the wild things are is a very cool children's book. And he's done quite a bit more work in addition to that. From what I've seen - all pretty good stuff.

I think the comparison with Nugent is spot on. Nugent may be a nutbag but that doesn't mean I won't listen to him play guitar (because, let's face it, he's kind of awesome in that respect).

Same for Sendak. He's a definite head case. But I'll still read Where the Wild Things Are to my little one.

Did Nugent say he wanted to blow up Obama's wife?

To be clear, I think Nugent is also a nut job for what he said. But of all the vitriolic and idiotic things I've heard said, I don't remember people wanting to kill the wives, too.

Are you trying to argue semantics over which crazy person is crazier?

One guy thought it would be cool to blow up Bush, Cheney, and their wives. The other has said that he wants to kill Obama and Hillary (link). They're both pretty ******* crazy.

But here's the catch, Nugent is adored by popular right-wing television show hosts like Sean Hannity and Mike Huckabee.

You should stop watching fox so much.

Although, you know it's like those closet homosexual republicans. They always talk about the sins of homosexuality, but they seem to be the ones talking about it all the time.

I wonder if you are a secret fox news lover? Hmmmmmm

I already acknowledged both were crazy. I was surprised that the author of one of my favorite books from my childhood was crazy. And crazy enough that he not only wanted to murder to make change but to also kill the wives while he was at it.
