VP Petraeus?
Romney wouldn't answer if he was meeting with him in NH and supposedly Obama said it is who Romney wants.

Please let it be so.
I would love to watch that debate. The Obama administration has called him one of the greatest military strategist, so lack of military understanding is an attack that can be taken off the table.

It would make sense given Romney's complete ineptitude with foreign affairs.

He is a military guy, and not a career politician so who knows how he will do as a politician, but both sides like him, and nobody likes career politicians anyway.

Foreign Relations Committee in the U.S. Senate and served as Chairman on the subcommittee on European Affairs.
As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Obama made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa. He met with Mahmoud Abbas before Abbas became President of the Palestinian National Authority, and gave a speech at the University of Nairobi in which he condemned corruption within the Kenyan government.
Google much?
Plus, he was born in Kenya

I don't see him helping much with those who have as their main concern, the national debt.

Lacking, to be honest. Unless you are a former NSA or was in the intelligence department, but most Senators, governors, (anyone running for President) Foreign Policy experience is lacking.
General Patreaus will come on board with plenty of knowledge from the region he was just dealing with last, Iraq/Afghanistan etc..CENTCOM..and some knowledge of other places that have possibly morphed since he was there. He has been totally engulfed in the battles that have dominated most of our lives the past 11 years (uniform or not).
He would do best by going and taking that Director of Intelligence job first, then move into politics. That's how I would lead off with the conversation, if I was his advisor. Even though a General is the closest thing we have to a politician in the service, its still a tough sale these days going from Soldier to VEEP or PREZ. Again, my advice is to take Colin Powell's route, get into one of the offices for a minute first.
He is a hero right now, politics tarnishes a man's image.

I don't know. Will he get demonized, sure but those doing so will be reaching at best (the democrats love him as much as the republicans). Ike was the most recent to bounce from the service to DC and he didn't do to bad. The guy knows people. People know him. He would bring in a lot of people that just want to see some sort of sensable leadership. He would also be able to give us the best info on what we are doing with fewer people to pass through, giving us quicker results.
Would he be great in politics? I think so. Would this be his only chance to get to the White House? Not by a long shot. I will throw my vote wherever this guy goes.

Foreign Affairs, not foreign policy (in a colloquial sense). Think State Department, not DoD or DHS.

I wonder if The democrats are prepared to make a change for the VP from Biden depending on who the Republicans choose.
I could see a situation where they'd bump Biden for Hillary if Peteaus is chosen for Romney.
