Did anyone think it would take this long?
Did anyone think it would honestly take this long to sign Drew? Looking back a couple months ago it seemed as if everyone was optimistic thinking a contract was coming very soon. Then Benson says it is close followed by Condon saying it's nowhere near done. I was just wondering if you were just trying to optimistic and saying it would be done soon or if in the back of your mind you thought it could drag out to July.
I personally didn't think it would take this long, but I'll stay optimistic and who dat for life.

This could have easily been placed into one of the numerous other "can you believe drew hasnt signed yet" threads.
(just letting ya know so you wont be wondering when the reb thumbs start piling up)
And to answer; No, I didnt think it would take this long. No, I didnt think Drew would try to reem our franchise. No, I didnt think he would threaten a hold out.
But the one thing I did know. Yes, Mickey will stand his ground and get whats best for the franchise, not the player!

It sad that the Saints have not signed him. Has there ever been another MVP type QB to be franchised. If so, who. It seems most team sign their franchise QBs before they become free agents. Manning's contract got done in 48 hours. We don't have a coach and the front office believes we don't need our QB. Loomis is saying that Aaron Rodgers was right and Drew's offseason workouts last year were a big waste of time. They obviously believe he is not needed now.

I thought it would be this exact situation now. I posted it and took hell for it. Lots of sarcasm and typical 'net speak. Unfortunately I was right.

Nope, i really thought Drew would overrule Condon and be in for OTA's, however I did know that this deal would not happen last year, Condon wanted to wait and see what he could get for an injured P.Manning, as well as letting the Megatron and Mario Williams deals get done to set a relative floor....we were never going to pay Nicks and carry 15% of our entire cap between 2 guards and Mickey knew he had better than a fighters chance to keep Colston as that has proven out....I should have known there was no way Condon was going to cut a deal until the July16th deadline

I wouldn't assume that's what he's saying by opening a business here. He does not need to play in the city in which his business operates. And regardless of his status with the team, his name will be golden in New Orleans until after I'm dead and gone. (Been to Brett Farve's Steakhouse in Green Bay while he was playing in Minnesota? Packed). I would say, business wise, there's no better place for him to have business investments. I think in actuality, this is a non issue in regard to his contract.
If he wants to tell the front office he wants to be here, he should cave about the 3rd franchise tag. Loomis is in the right, Brees is in the wrong. If anything, Brees is holding Loomis hostage. Condon is the master at PR manipulation.

If anyone says they thought it would take this long, they're lying. Additionally, just because his agent is Tom Condon, doesn't mean this should have been expected. There is no way in the world this situation should be happening. I'm not saying it should have been quick and easy, but this is completely ridiculous.
