I think the reason is because most of our fans do not want to see the saints win and they are afraid that if Peyton stays we will be successful again. I believe that we are close to turning it around and just need a few more players especially on defense. IMHO these posters know that and they want a change because that will most likely set things back and guarantee more losing season which is what they want.

Cause who's replacing him? No coach of his caliber is coming here. It would be idiotic to fire Sean Payton and get a lesser coach, just to make a change.

The Rams don't have a 1st or 3rd round pick this year. So what are they going to trade for Payton???

Next year will be do or die for Payton! Payton has to be accountable for the horrible defenses we continue to have. Again we will finish at or close to the bottom in defense. Bad drafts, bad free agents and horrible talent evaluation have wasted the career of future Hall of Fame Drew Brees in costing this team from winning. Firing the defensive coordinator will not work this time. All blame belongs on the evident dictator coach Shawn Payton!

The simple fact that a team is rumored to want to "trade" for him must resonate with some. Not sure what the issues are with him (Too much power, no accountability for some on his staff, character over talent decision...) but if he can just figure it how to find the passion again he can be successful. Maybe a change is in order but the grass isn't always greener and all he has to do is to ask Parcells about that...

Yes he's still a GREAT play caller - but he has been poor at best as a Head Coach for several years. He may go somewhere else and be very successful as a head man, but he doesn't have IT here and now.

Something happened to him during that suspension. He lost something. This team was not the same from that point forward and they will continue to be MEDIOCRE as long as he is here.

It seems obvious to me - and I don't know why the fans, the TV talking heads and others aren't screaming about it.

So, your thoughts?
Let's say you're a fat, bald, missing teeth and don't have much money. Every last one of your girlfriends have been butt ugly. Now a pretty girl gives you a chance. She makes you feel good about yourself and make you feel like a man.
People now know your name. You have the pretty girl that everyone wants.

All of a sudden she starts treating you like crap. She keeps doing, but you keep going back.
She has even cheated on you, but hey, she's pretty right?

Everyone around town is clowning you because she's playing you, but you keep going back.

Speaking in such absolutes may feel good, but it serves to undermine your argument and makes your post look quite foolish.

You're underestimating how much luck has to do with any successful coach. The coaches who look like geniuses right now can look like lame ducks five years from now. We have one that guarantees we will at least be competitive on a year to year basis, and one that has Super Bowl pedigree. I don't know what you think is out there, but the best guy for the job is already in the building.

It wouldn't be "just to make a change". It would be for three consecutive non-winning seasons and 10 of 11 seasons with a defense in the bottom third of the league, plus awful special teams play and lots of bad personnel decisions.

I mean, I'd be down to look into anybody that they could suggest.

Wait a season, bring in Tom Herman? I don't know.
