Funny, I went to a LSU-Tulane baseball game back around 2004. I got to talking to the guy sitting next to me, but he actually refused to speak to me once he found out I had gone to Tulane! Come to find out later, he was actually a Nicholls State student who had driven up to BR for the game.

For one game. Long term is still writing itself. They are 3-3 against each other.

This is exactly what is prompting a lot of the hate in this thread. It creates this idea of you have to pull for this team b/c they're from your state. I didn't go to LSU. I went to SLU, so do I automatically default to liking some other team of which I have no allegiance? I'd rather pull for LSU because it's good for the state when they win. That's the only reason.
Saturday a guy in our section was cheering for the LSU band, I have no problem with that. I'm glad that he was able to celebrate his team being in the big dance on Monday. He was having some people yell at him for cheering for LSU during a Saints game. I don't really think he should have been heckled, but whatever. In response to the heckling, the comment is made that UNO isn't a real school, and neither are a few other smaller LA based Colleges. I realized he's just one of thousands of fans, but it's consistent with what I have personally experienced. I was in Tiger Stadium for the Saints games after Katrina also, and was heckled for liking the Saints. I was in the Dome Saturday night listening to 'LSU' chants.
So when LSU lost last night, I was bummed that we weren't able to have another College national championship here. But for the people bad mouthing the other schools, or the LSU fans dogging people for being Saints fans, I was glad their beloved team was embarrassed.

I think you nailed this pretty good. Looking at the list of teams I despise, it generally has to do with my interactions with their fanbase:
Atlanta Falcons, Red Sox, University of Texas, Cowboys, Steelers, Lakers.
From all these teams I've experienced just annoying in your face jerks that I think about everytime they lose. LSU is pretty close to being on that list for me. The only thing that keeps them off is the handful of people I know and like that are LSU fans. But I can't help think of that little #$%^ that was screaming tiger bait at Alabama fans on canal street at noon yesterday and smile. I guess his one saving grace was he probably didn't make it to/remember the game.

Both of these statements are funny to me, because most of the biggest "LSU fans" I know personally are graduates of (or briefly attended) UNO, SLU, and other state colleges without major football programs.

so it's ok to like the Saints, but hate LSU, but if someone likes LSU and hates the Saints they are crazy? Not everyone is a pro fan, just like not everyone is a college fan...personally, I pull for all La. teams, from the Saints all the way down to the Ice Gators.. So I find it crazy when someone is a fan of an out of state team, unless they have some sort of ties to it..

Whew, good thing there are no Saints fans out there like this.

The admins need to work out a system of giving more than one green thumb per post.
That one deserved mega green.

LSU (and SEC football fans imo) are a weird, no life having, fanatical bunch. They eat and sleep everything LSU. The majority of them have never set foot on that campus for academic reasons. They are front runners with last night being a prime example. Poor Jordan Jefferson had to shut down his social media sites bc of those idiots. I let my brother inlaw have my ticket for Saturday night's game because I was not in the mood for all of the "tiger baits" and "roll tide"...sickening. I am a LSU alum btw and a fan but I bleed black and gold. I much prefer the atmosphere in NO and in the dome.

I did not read the entire thread, but the LSU band only knows one song. The best band in Baton Rouge is Southern. This comes from an LSU grad, but I bleed black and gold.

I don't think there is any debate on if LSU is the best band in La.
Everyone knows Southern has them beat from top to bottom..
But believe it or not, there are a lot of Saints fans who are LSU fans that go to Saints games..
I would probably say there are more people come from outside New Orleans that go to the Saints games than people from New Orleans.. If you ever make that commute across the spillway on gameday, you know what i'm talking about..
if your from NO, you know better than to be on I-10 trying to get off at the Superdome exit..so, all those suckers are definetly not NO natives..
I'm not from NO, but my wife works in Harahan, and i've had season tickets long enough to know the alternate routes to the Dome..(plus I get there early enough before traffic builds anyway)..
