What I can't grasp is how harbaugh as a special teams coach didn't call the timeout. There's a good chance cundiff was so surprised that he didn't even know whether he had a timeout.

He should have made it, but very weird circumstances
Is Harbaugh the ST coach? I was just about to post that if this in fact bothered Cundiff, then the ST coach should be fired simply for the fact he should be putting the fg team on alert on 3rd down once they reached Cundiff's range.

Was before becoming HC.... His specialty. You'd think he'd be a little more sensitive to how quirky kickers are and the oddness of the situation.

Yes. It was a confusing situation after the first down play. It was 2nd and a short one and it included a fumble out of bounds that needed to be respotted. It's pretty obvious that the scoreboard operator just messed up. If this was somehow malicious and Belichick actually had the scoreboard operator prepared for this situation then he is simply the greatest evil genius on the face of the planet.

That said, they brought it on themselves after 2007 and any time something happens where someone can accuse them of cheating they will. No matter how ridiculous is it.
