Other Message Board Posts About Saints

I am not an avid poster here. Rather, I am mostly a very active follower. Recently, I have lost my nerve and decided to vent a little bit. I am ABSOLUTELY ticked off and astonished by posts that other fans are making on various boards. MANY swear that Payton should be kicked out of the League, and that the Saints' SB Victory should be nullified. Ironically, some of these posters are Patriots fans (Spygating?) and Giants fans (Kyle Williams anyone?)
Are people really this friggin' closed-minded? Do they not realize that this crap PROBABLY goes on with more than half of the teams in the NFL? Trust me, if we hear reports that 4 or 5 teams participated in bounties, that number is probably more like 10 to 15 since they probably just covered it up better.
Skimming through various message boards really makes me appreciate being a member of SR. As a matter of fact, screw ALL other sports boards. Not only are we dedicated faithfuls, but we are also more intelligent that other fans. Screw those stupid [mod edit] who wine and justify Payton's suspension. It's clear that they are just jealous of our recent success. However, they will never be the fans we are, and their team will not play with as much passion and heart as we will this year.

PS: This is a link of a discussion that i HAD to reply to. My name is MB, join with me and shut the morons (Mod edit) up if you like.

The problem is, the article paints it as if Payton's taking responsibility for starting the program, running it, hiding it and cutting the checks.

That was Williams job. Payton's taking responsibility that it happened on his watch.

Has the whole world turned into Vikings fans all of a sudden?

The Saints have caused a lot of butthurt the last few years. What's funny is how they don't understand Brees will be signed even when he loses his arm and we're going 2 - 14.

You forgot Packers fans, Vikings fans, Falcons fans, and Panthers fans. You know it's OK for them all to judge us, but they can never do any wrong.

When other fans hate you this much, it's because you've been beating them for a long time. We've got 4-6 solid years of making opponents look stupid. They're mad. And Goodell is tired of us taking the spotlight away from his favorites. So he tries to cripple our team for at least the next few years.

This kind of crap is the reason I won't read any Saints-related articles anywhere but SR right now.

I've come to the conclusion that we are now the bad guys,so with that said I don't give 2 ***** what other fans think.TBH I'm just really glad this all went down in the offseason rather than in the middle of our run.

Do not worry about what they are saying... this offseason is real disappointment and it is time to block all negative things around us.. so stay here in SR only.

Just 1 question,

If this really goes on openly in the locker rooms of "more than half of the teams in the NFL", why the attempt to cover up? It would have made more sense to be open and get the players and coaches on your roster that were involved at other locations to admit it. Then it truly must be treated as a league wide issue with nothing worse for the Saints than any other team.

Imagine this, 2 LBs sitting in the locker room before a game. One says, "I got a hundy that says I get more tackles than you today". The other says "you're on". A third overhears and wants in. You now have the "bounty pool" in violation of the rules. This is something that likely happens on many teams.

Owners have committed to the league to operate within the rules. I haven't looked but that will likely be found in the NFL's constitution and by-laws or some other such guigance document for franchise owners. That expectation would cascade to those running the team (GM and other front office types) and the coaches. If those folks become aware of the existence of the above scenario, they have an obligation to put a stop to it. Your guys not only failed to do that, but elected to run it themselves as a motivation tool, or at least one did with the knowledge of his superiors. This plus the subsequent cover-up is what brought the punishment.

I don't expect the punishments for players to be anything close to this. They were following the direction of the coaches as expected.

It's intersting to see the outrage directed towards Goodell. The reality is that he did nothing but enforce the rule. The outrage should be directed to those that brought this on the Saints organization. You may choose not to admit it but that Lombardi is not as shiny today as it was a few weeks ago. Those within the org are responsible for that, not Goodell.

One of the dumbest statements I've seen on this board. The Lombardi is still as shiny as it was when the Saints earned it. I guess I should expect statements like this from high and mighty fans of other teams.

As I said, you may choose not to admit it. I expect most "Ends justifies the means" types to respond as you did. You'll always have to defend the validity of the accomplishment from this day forward. Wouldn't it be much better if that were not the case?
