Brees/Graham = Best Fantasy Tandem

This could go to the FF board, but since it involves rankings, I thought I'd post here. SI has done a TOP 10 of Fantasy Tandems for the 2012 season and have Drew Brees/Jimmy Graham as the #1 tandem. Drew actually made the list twice with him and Darren Sproles coming in at the #7 spot. The one thing that irks me is the constant mention of our depleted defense due to suspensions. I don't think we are as depleted as everyone makes us out to be especially after learning the extent of JV's injury yesterday. He may not have been 100% anyway and nobody gives any credit to our new LB's signed in the offseason.

Quote:
1. Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham, Saints: Like New England's Brady and Gronkowski last season, the Saints' top two players form a virtually unstoppable combination that is only getting better. Brees is coming off the best passing yardage season in NFL history, and with a defense depleted by league suspensions, the Saints will be involved in plenty of shootouts. And although Gronkowski was last season's top tight end, Graham, the ex-basketball player who is still learning the position, was just 17 yards and six TDs behind Gronk for the finest season by a TE in NFL history. And coincidentally, six TDs are the exact number that were caught by Robert Meachem, now with the Chargers; those catches are more than likely going Graham's way this year.

We signed four new starters on defense. FOUR. We are anything but depleted.

Yeah, that bothers me, too. Seems reporters do little if any research these days. IMHO, our D (from a talent POV) is superior to any D we've had in the Payton era.

We have a replacement for Vilma in Lofton with perhaps more talent than Vilma has now - not even considering his injury. Then add Bunkley, Hawthorne and Chamberlain and we have more talent on paper than any Saints D in a very long time. The loss of Smith for 4 games may have an impact, but I honestly don't think that Vilma's loss will.

Time and on-field play will tell, but I am looking forward to seeing what they can bring this year.

Just make sure you don't draft a depleted defense and you should be OK.

Couldn't agree more. It's OK though. Our D (fingers crossed) will fly under the radar for a few weeks into the season and then everyone will know what we really have.

Last year was my first time ever playing FF, and I won my league with the Brees/Graham combo. I actually pulled ahead during the Falcons game, sitting in the dome, watching Brees make history.

Haha I'm the same. I never draft 49ers because I'm afraid my personal homerism will take over. Also their lack of fantasy studs makes that decision a little easier lol. It would be much harder if we had the Saints offense. Hard part with Saints players in draft is the ball gets spread out so much. Besides Brees, and Graham (Colston on the bubble, depending on league size/rules), there are no other for sure fantasy football starters.

I had them all last year.

I was doing this last year against the Colts...
Brees, Colston, Graham, Ingram, and I might've had the defense too. Hahaha.

After the past two years, I vowed I will never pick up our defense again. After seeing our OFA from this year, I might have to go back on that statement.

My entire draft strategy is to get a QB/WR or QB/TE combo.

I was lucky to get Brees/Colston/Grahm.

Nothing like being down 60-100 points in a ppr 12 team league with the Saints game being the last one to play. Lots of smack talk going on. Until the game is over .

People are just now catching on that you get double points when you have the QB/WR or QB/TE combo.
