Robert Ashley - first to use deliberate feedback in a recording.
(Though not directly referenced) Ike Turner - first to use deliberate distortion
The use of classical musicians (or at the very least classically trained musicians) on popular albums was commonplace with Big Band/Jazz music of the '20s - early '50s.

In '67 they hitched their wagon to the psychedelic rock bandwagon, but they were beat their by Hendrix, the Doors, and even the Beach Boys (I think even McCartney said that Sergeant Pepper would not have been possible without Pet Sounds)
They may have been prolific and fairly diverse in terms of their sound, but they were not revolutionary

The Doors, Hendrix, et. al. were also pre-dated by the 13th Floor Elevators.

I thought the psychedelic sound was brought on by the use of Indian instruments such a the sitar? And the Beatles were the first to use a sitar in a rock album.
All those things I posted, they were the first to use. I can back them up with links. I think a lot of what your saying is legit, but they were pre-all those guys. Their music was innovative.

I think a lot of people here are stuck up still on JL saying the Beatles are bigger than Jesus. Didn't even mean it the way it was taken but that right there ticked a lot of people down south off.

Well, he did mean it that way. People just took "bigger than Jesus" and made it into "better than Jesus" to fit their own agendas.

The Vatican has now changed their stance on that comment. They said that JL and the band were young and reached pop stardom so fast at such a young age that he didn't know what he was saying.

the things they did with the music were huge. Prior to them nobody was using guitar feedback in albums?
Prior to them who was using classical musicians on popular albums?
Prior to them who was using artificial double tracking?
Close miking of acoustic instruments was never done prior to them nowadays it is common practice.
Nobody sampled prior to them, now everyone does it.
I could go on, but if people say the beatles were not influential... well don't expect your musical expertise to sit well with me. It's as shallow as Panteras depth.

Those first 2 posts were back to back and I also posted the only picture of Dimebag in this thread. Is it a stretch to think you're possibly talking to me?

Do jumping jacks much, you sure are stretching things a bit. Stretching, generalizing, etc.
