I agree. This business about being overly critical is unfortunate. For a 13-year old kid (Asian girl for that matter) even recognizing the value in playing Rush (especially a deeper track), much less being able to do a pretty darn impressive job at it, is just cool IMO. So she was having fun twirling the stick - she's 13! She's not yet old enough to be worried about being cool, or the subtleties of style. She's digging playing the drums.

Any of you bother to notice the title of the video where it says "with stick performance"? I'm not sure but that just may be a reason for the excessive stick work. Personally, I couldn't care less about all that stick work. Just hit your marks and keep it clean. I think that really hampered her timing.

My gf's niece could rip her a new one, btw.
