Nickelback = Three Doors Down in terms of being the epitome of suck.

3 Doors Down hails from Pascagoula; Nickelback is from Canada, thus 3 Doors Down > Nickleback

I like Coldplay, although I'm in the minority here.
I think I'm going to see them on their last tour date, shouldn't be the liveliest gig in the world but it's the music that counts.

New Orleans in general has absolutely horrible taste in rock music. We never get ANY good concerts here. Kid Rock and Lynard Skynard and Nickelback are pretty much the extent of what rock fans in New Orleans enjoy.

Bands like Coldplay, Oasis, Arcade Fire, the Killers, U2 - they never get any play in New Orleans. That's why we'll never get to see great bands like these play here, and will have to continue to drive to Houston to see a concert worth a darn.

I remember when U2 played the Dome in 97 only like 15,000 people showed up. Just pathetic.

People who played classical music as children love Coldplay. That's where the "gay" rap comes in, because they implement piano and soaring melodies and choruses (yes, like U2 - who also grew up listening to classical music and opera) that are reminiscent of the master classical works.

I'm indifferent on the music, but that ipod commercial was decidedly gay

i think its kind of gay. Coldplay's sound is soft with no edge, the lyrics are saturated with mushy sentimental stuff and the guy sings in a powder-puff falsetto that makes me think of marshmallows.

That being said, I confess to liking their song "in my place" and also the one with the lyrics "im gonna buy a gun and start a war". However I agree they have stagnated and their songs sound very repetitive. Probably not fair for me to make that judgement seeing as I have not heard the new record, but

U2 is pretty painful so I'd say 15,000 people sounds like a good haul to me.
