Are you talking about the La La that starts "born in new orleans, raised in new orleans, I will forever remain faithful new orleans, I thank you new orleans, I thank you hollygroove?"
lol, yeah, funny I've been playing this song for months.

I'm Just Trying To Do The Opposite Of Left
As Long As There Is The Opposite Of Death
You Test, And I Might Just Bring The Opposite Of Life.
Till There's No One The Opposite Of Right
Probably one of my favorite lines to a point where I thought... wait? (not Lil Wayne)
I'll listen to Lil Wayne but I don't think he's as good as he makes himself out to be or others :shrugs:

What ever happened to the track with Luda, that was meant to be the highlight of the album.

It's actually people who say that Wayne is the greatest that makes me dislike him as much as him claiming he's the greatest rapper.
It's funny because people outside out LA assume that I love Lil Wayne when I don't.

Wayne isn't the greatest/best/etc.. by any stretch of the imagination. I also haven't heard of Lupe having a ghostwriter. Can you verify that? But for a peaceful argument's sake, let's assume that Lupe does have a ghostwriter. Does that mean that you think Wayne is a superior artist because Lupe doesn't pen his own rhymes? Your argument sounds like Lupe's work is better, but because someone wrote it for him, it's not as good.
Ghostwriter or not (and please prove it to us), Lupe is a very special MC.
I love hip-hop- it has been influential to me throughout my life. As much as I love the art, the past several years left MUCH to be desired. Lupe Fiasco gave me and many other hip hop heads reason to hope. He made me realize just how important the music is to me; re-opened my ears and allowed me to believe again. His work takes me back to 1994. It takes me back to the first time I heard 2Pac's "Me Against the World", Talib Kweli and Mos Def's "Blackstar", Snoop's "Doggystyle" or Dre's "Chronic", OutKast's "Aquemini", Run DMC's entire cataloge, and "The Score" from the Fugees.
These albums, among many others, are classics. These artist are legendary. I truly believe that Lupe can and will be mentioned in the same breath. Unfortunately, Lil Wayne will probably never be. Again, I don't mean to disrespect his many fans, and I am a big fan myself. But it is what it is, you know...

Lupe is the truth.

I was listening to The Score last night
It's quite nice to listen to music that actually has some sort of lesson or makes you think in a sense rather than something that has everyone dancin' in the club.
This should be interesting though... such and such has a ghostwriter but such and such doesn't because that's what I heard but if you heard that such and such has a ghostwriter then its all BS.
Put it this way... if Wayne is the best rapper alive, Souljah Boy is in second.
*zips up flame suit*
edit for previous post edit-I think the problem is that most of what the younger crowd is accustomed these days as far as rap goes is why "these artists" get a lot of props IMO which is why some of the more meaningful lyricists aren't recognized.

Wayne's music is about a chic, dope, or money.
Has ever done anything like Lupe's "Little Weapon"?

Have you guys seen any of the analysis of "Dumb it Down"? I thought I had caught most of it the first few times I tried to break it down, but boy was I wrong.
Here's one link: http://boards.atlanticrecords.com/ar...6810286201/p/1
When was the last time you heard a track half as deep as Dumb it Down from ANYONE???
