I played it again a little this weekend because of this thread and out of nostalgia. No way I make it through the whole game, but it was sort of fun for a few hours.
Played D1 and D2 for many, many years....Looks like I'll have a new addiction soon....
I recently pulled out my old LOD characters from mothballs, (yes, been logging in every so often to keep at least one account fresh), and noted that there are still tens of thousands playing D2 online. Over seven years old, and still a strong online community.
if someone decides to play again, they should add me and message me sometime. My acct. is: elrey21
I really only play with one other person so more people would be cool, especially saints fans.
Time to bump this, seeing as it's Blizzcon, there is a release window, and the beta is out there.
I was looking through the site, and Diablo 3 is now going to have a regular in-game auction house, as well as an auction house that trades in real currency (via paypal). I think the idea is that if you're going to have all of these 3rd party gold farmers/sellers, you may as well bring it in-game so it's legit, as well as Blizzard getting their cut.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Games whose fun-factor/success rate can be affected by how much you spend are not good. Then again, Blizzard has a point with taking the 3rd parties out of the loop.
It's not good for me - I'm a sucker for microtransactions. I can't help myself.
I would be pretty surprised if that happened, considering Blizzard's history, but it would be an interesting move.
It does seem unlikely, but that is where the money is these days. PC gaming is really a niche market compared to console gaming. The average person, including me, just lacks the technical knowledge to keep up with what is required to do PC gaming. As a result only people who really know what they are doing are able to really do PC gaming and the majority of the money goes to console games.
