I played the first GW and played through all the different games. (Nightfall, Factions, EOTN) But didn't really do much after that, not really that into the PvP part. Just like playing through the game and beating almost everything in PvE. I will probably get GW2, but still not sure. In y'alls opinion, what are some things that will be better in GW2 and what are some things that won't be better in GW2?

In GW2 combat is more simplistic, less micro-management for conditions and minions and whatnot, most of your skills change based on what kind of weapon you're holding so you cant even pick exactly which skills you want to use (and in some cases are pigeon-holed into certain weapons for certain roles whether you like it or not).
In short, on paper GW2 combat looks like a simplistic, repetitive mess, and yet they pull it off pretty damn well. I've had more fun in the beta weekends than I've had in any MMO in probably the last 3 years or so.
IDK,I really wish they did a completely open beta so you could try it for yourself (I'm sure you'd buy it)

I played on this server during BWEs 1-3. As the unofficial RP server it has a very high population but a small-ish presence in WvW. We got our butts kicked by the larger servers and mopped the floor with the newer ones.
Oddly enough I had more fun losing all the time. Target rich environment FTW!

I like the idea of a simpler combat system. I do wish I could play the beta, but oh well. I was probably going to get the game anyways eventually. But I know one of my roommates already purchased the game, so I will probably just checkout the game when he starts playing it, then I will probably be sold on getting it.

I had heard it was the unofficial rp server so I thought high pop and active community. But a big part of my play will be WvWvW and Spvp so maybe I should go in a different direction? Any good forums for guild wars out there? I havent been able to find a real active one since the official ones closed.

Yeah, there are NO server-specific forums out there, which kind of make organizing things for WvW pretty damn hard.
I went over to Sea of Sorrows (picked randomly) for the last BWE and the difference was night and day. People were shouting enemy positions and in general much more active and helpful, both inside and out of WvW.
IDK, you guys can do what you want but I think I found my new home. Now if only I can find a guild thats hiring who will be active in PvP

Hypothetically...
Say there was a forum member that wanted to check out Guild Wars 2, but it goes against everything he/she has proclaimed in the past about what a game should be...
Let's just call this person Hermeyy, short for hermaphrodite to keep the gender neutral...
So Hermeyy wants to play guild wars 2, but doesn't have a PC capable of running the game. Hermeyy figures that Hermeyy could just go buy the greatest Alienware box and Hermeyy would be OK, but Hermeyy is told by friends that would be a waste of money, and that Hermeyy should probably just ask here for assistance...
Hermeyy may be too embareassed however, so I've taken it upon myself to ask for Hermeyy.
What say you folks? Tiger Direct? Some other game shop? Alienware after all?
Please respond with a link if/when possible... Hermeyy is watching, and may need to buy directly from the link you post.

I normally build, but most gamers seem to prefer ibuypower, and cyberpowerpc. Not sure if Alienware has this issue, but dell's use vendor specific mobo interfaces and power supply that make swapping out hardware impossible. Best of luck to your hypocritical hermaphrodite.

Well, You don't need a top of the line PC to run GW2, b something decently new.
I wouldn't go Alienware. It's nice, but expensive and generally overpriced for what you get.
If you are comfortable building your own system, you have a lot more options available at a cheaper price, otherwise you can go for a prebuilt system. Ibuypower.com is a good site for that. Be prepared to spend around $1,000 or so.
Tigerdirect if you are looking to build it yourself. You can build a pretty decent system yourself for around $800 that will run GW2 just fine. Less if you can use parts from your old PC.
