I almost never buy new games anymore.

I can't imagine the price dropping much soon. If you are waiting for that you may be waiting a long, long time. Maybe 5 bucks or so? I don't like saving 5 bucks for a used game. That 5 bucks might end up costing me more.

the game is definitely heavy on the investigative side of things but there is enough action for me....those of you with FPS induced ADD won't find what you are looking for in this game....those of you looking for something new and different, this game has it
basically, you get called to a crime scene and you spend a few minutes gathering clues and talking to witnesses.....then you go around fitting the pieces of the puzzle together....the cases usually end in a chase or a GTA style shoot out....
too add some more action to the game, they have radio calls that you can take.....these are quick, action based side missions that have you called in to a crime in progress....they only take a few minutes but are a nice addition
the first few cases i did are not linked in any way that i can see but there are some clues that indicate there is something bigger going on in L.A. that you will end up involved in
i don't know what else to say about the game other than it is awesome and unique
if you want something new, you should try it out...if you are happy playing FPSfest2011, then carry on....who am i to judge??

Think I'm going to trade Mass Effect 2 in for this. Not really enjoying ME2... I do like RPGs, just not boring sci-fi ones. :snooze:

I really like the game, but it's definitely different than anything I've done before. I'm only two cases into the game after you get promoted.
Searching for clues is interesting, but pretty easy and straightforward. It tells you what's a real clue and what's not. I kind of wish you didn't know if something was relevant or not unless it comes up in your interrogations.
The interrogations are cool, but also frustrating to me. It's getting better as I get more comfortable, though. I can definitely see playing through a second time to attack cases differently. I'm really hesitant to call someone a straight up lier so I've missed a few questions. I do like when I know someone is telling a lie because of evidence I have.
I love the side quests, even though I've only done two so far. For those that want more action or a GTA experience, this will appeal to you. If you don't want it, then just skip it. For me, it's a nice break from the investigating. Through something like 7 total cases and side quests, I've only killed 3 people so far...2 bank robbers and a guy holding someone hostage. Another crazy guy killed himself.
The city is cool and a bit of a letdown at the same time. It's pretty and cool to see some of the recognizable landmarks. But so far it's more background than anything else...kind of like Mafia 2. I'm definitely spoiled by GTA IV and RDR. Because the game is so linear, I don't really get out and explore much. Maybe that will pick up, but it's not a big deal to me. I don't see landmarks or buildings and think about what a cool mission will take place there.
I don't think this will end up being my GOTY as I end up liking the formulas of a GTA/RDR/Assassin's Creed story. But it's definitely worth a purchase and will probably go down as one of my favorite games for the year. And it could get a lot better as I progress through the game!

This is a pretty good review: http://www.computerandvideogames.com...-noire-review/
It's very positive about the game, but the concerns about the linearity and repetitiveness of the game make me think I will get bored of it. I'm still on the fence.

But, that can only last so long, especially if the game becomes repetitive. And, if the action is more like GTA IV than Red Dead, I'll be highly disappointed. I loved Red Dead, but I never liked the mechanics of the shooting or the driving in GTA IV. I just have a feeling that everyone will be wowed with how different this game is for a few days and then everyone, other than antipop, will end up concluding that although it is innovative, it's not really all that great of a game or particularly fun to play once the newness of the game style wears off. I still remember all the people that thought Homefront and Medal of Honor were great for the first few days.

i haven't found it to be all that repetitive mainly because the story for each case is so different....
and this is truly a story driven game
it's certainly no more repetitive than Mass Boredom

It's kind of annoying how they use the same female models over and over and over again for different women. They just change the color of hair sometimes(or barely adjust a cheekbone) expecting that to be believable..ugh..
It's a minor gripe but considering the entire point is to be immersed into talking to different people and getting a feel for them, this IS a valid complaint. I'm still enjoying the game though.

I can definitely see this game creating pillow fight between the people who think it's boring and the ones who tell them that "they just don't get it". Sort of like the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I own it but I haven't had time to experience it's awesomeness. There was a bottle of 100% blue agave tequila that distracted me last night. Then the toilet distracted my face from 3-4am.

I definitely can see this happening.
The game does seem to be a bit repetitive. It's enjoyable though. I can definitely see some people getting a bit bored. I can also see some people not getting bored at all.
