The real concern with this game is the replay value. That's what was great about the GTA games; you could replay a mission and figure out more fun ways to accomplish your goals. I'm not sure this game will be able to do that.

60 plus cases right out of the box.
40 optional cases on the squad car radio.
Rock Star is promising double digit cases via DLC.

Giantbomb says the PS3 doesn't suffer from framerate drop-outs like the 360 version does. PS3 also comes with free DLC and has the benefit of being on one disc.
They gave it 5/5 stars.

L.A. Noire is a bold release, because it defies the expectations not just for the type of game Rockstar usually releases, but also for the type of game that receives this degree of care and proficiency in its execution. The world already has enough open-world action games, but a game which marries that open world to such a methodical style of gameplay, with a budget this big, is a rare thing indeed.

They loved it, like everyone else.
buzd tells me he isn't buying it cause he would feel guilty wasting gaming time not playing Rift. I think it's time we take that game away from him. He needs an intervention.

If I wanted to solve cases the right way, I would join the police force.
I'm playing a video game in order to escape reality. Also, to shoot people in the face.
I don't want to have to do real life tasks in a video game. Being a "play by the rules good cop" falls under the "workout and eat breakfast in GTA: San Andreas" category. Sure it's close to real life, but that doesn't translate to video game fun.
I'm not spending 60 bucks to be Nancy Drew.

The good thing is you don't have to, Nancy.

A game where you can carry a gun but aren't allowed to shoot anyone you please, is silly.

I don't think it's been posted here yet, but Kmart is offering a pretty good deal on the game too... buy the game, get a $20 gaming coupon, and a free game $19.99 or less.
Dunno if anyone still shops there anyway, but they've become quite a good place for game sales.
