My Sith sniper is about to hit 30 (Thana Vesh). I haven't done much grouping, mostly because the solo in this is so fun. Bioware's presence is obvious. It's very Mass Effect-like, considering it's an RPG.
I am all dark, and loving it.
Sniper is one of the most under played/needed classes in the game. If you play him all the way up, you won't have issues getting into raids.
Just ordered this last night from Amazon. Going to load it up tomorrow.
I play a tank in WoW and enjoy it quite a bit. Are there tank shortages on either side right now? Server suggestions?
If you don't want any issues at all with grouping I'd go
Space slug server- EMPIRE SIDE(activity is through the roof)..not republic
Tanks appear to be needed just like healers..as usual.
powertech is interesting..a RANGE tank that shoots
Juggernaught is just like the prot warrior in wow. Well, not really but it's very reactive and twitchy. And they have a charge type ability that's really similar. Good wow warrior tank? Good swtor jugg tank.
Then there is the assassin...odd sort of tank..hard to describe..I don't like it. I hated the class.
all classes have pets/companions, that are stronger than hunter pets in wow. Yes, mobs scale for this, but not that much..so you and your companion feel very powerful. You can solo as a tank and let your companion heal you(you get more than one and you can choose which one you would like to group with)..its really nice that you can play the way in a group that you solo.

Put this in last night. I dig it. Control scheme just like WoW, but the graphics & story setting make the difference. Particularly the voice acting - felt like I was playing a Bioware game, which is awesome.
I know that. I guess I was expecting less, being an MMO. Less-story driven than every other Bioware game I've played.
Very pleased to see I was wrong.
The thing is, once you get used to this production value, you can't go back and play other mmos afterwards. Swtor has spoiled me because the fantastic writing and acting really pulls you in to the game.
I couldn't imaging going back and playing rift again or wow..the silence is deafening from the npcs in those games after you play swtor.

as a main sorc healer, i love assasin tanks, my first 50 was a jugg tank, i hated it. didnt' have any real group aggro abilities till around 30.
my assasin tank is 34 now, and I'm loving the heck out of tanking with him.
mitigation off the chain, and abilities for group and solo aggro are awesome. as well as pulling a ranged target out of a group so cc isn't broken.
heck, had assassin that just hit 50 in ops other night, and she just swapped from dps to tank spec, and was easier to heal than juggs that leveled as tanks and been doing hm's and ops a while. assassin tanks are easy to be good. some do stink though, juggs are ok, but hard to be great. there are a few though., yeah, some things still more doable solo with sorce healing with khem, but i made short work with my assassin on stuff, that sorce took some work. like the zash fight, assasin done on no time with 13% dmg taken sorce, was back and forth healing self and khem, interupting.
many of the servers population are dropping.
mind trick is one of the busier, but just about whenever you're trying to group up, always missing one of the other roles,
Anyone know how to beat Act 1 via Imperial Agent? The game is still glitched for me in the middle of the boss battle and won't let me actually target the boss. Its been like this since launch. Maybe April 12th's update will fix it?

I've done it, but I don't remember what battle that is. Is that the chick back at intelligence headquarters?

Nah its a boss on a ship in space, you have several options to go about fighting them. Either way, they finally fixed it...now to see if I care enough to try to actually beat it.

From the interview Darth Hater had with James Ohlen and posted on April 10th 2012 one of the questions was:
Is there any discussion of merging servers or adding incentives to move players to low pop servers?
JO: No, we’re not going to. Merging servers is not something we are looking at. We have a very healthy game right now, so that is not something we are looking at in the near future. We're always going to look at ways to make sure a server is healthy. There are a whole bunch of different ways you can do that. We're discussing them. We want to make sure players feel like there are enough players on their server to play with.
Well let us now fast forward to April 16 2012. 6 days into the very distant... extremely distant future.
Now Gamer posted an interview with Lead Designer Daniel Erickson, here are some of the highlights:
"One of the problems we’re running into right now is kind of a classic MMO problem, which is that our overall population of players has not changed, but our peak concurrent users has changed," Erickson told Now Gamer.
"Are server merges a possible solution? Absolutely. Are character transfers a possible solution? They’re a definite solution and we’re going after that first."
Well now that is a completely "almost" different answer to the one given just 6 days ago. A long long time ago you say?
"I've heard from investors today saying that we must have 800,000 subscribers. I heard 600,000 yesterday. So what I think a lot of people have misunderstood is we said we had 1.7 million subscribers on the last call, which was about a month ago. What that was about was the fact that only about – just about half that number had triggered through their 30-day point and become active subscribers, our definition of recurring subscribers. We had about half that total still in the 30-day trial period, but they're subscribers because that first month is including with a package good. What I said a month ago was, just over half."
"We sold 2 million boxes. Of those 1.7 million people activated the game and are therefore included in our subscriber numbers for Q3 ending 12.31.2011, since you have to subscribe to play the game even if you only play for ONE MONTH and cancel at the end of that first month.
Officially, EVERYONE who bought the game and activated their subscription is a subscriber to our investors. Unofficially we're in trouble. Handing out free time and free days and free months and free trials for friends and their friends and the friends of their friends...
