I just bought this for my new pc......I have never played an mmo to tell you the truth. Would some of you guys be willing to let me in on some of your games even though I'm new at this? I have only played games on my consoles so this will be really different and I know I would suck at first......but hey I'm a SAINTS Fan.....

Well, I play this game on Mind Trick (republic side) and I greatly enjoy it. Most people on here, I think, play on Space Slug (empire side) and love it too. You can look back through the thread to see exactly what server everybody is own.
However, I'm in doctoral school and haven't played for a month due to time constraints.
With that said, SW:TOR is different from most of the MMO's that I have played. The worlds seem a little more deserted, and the game is more single player focused than most. Of course, I tend to prefer it this way.
World of Warcraft and Rift seem to have more open worlds with more players involved, but I still find SW:TOR more fun.
Anyway, just look back through the thread and see who is playing where. I think there was some talk of starting a guild, and if somebody did, it's probably a guild on space slug. i was gonna start one on Mind Trick, but I did not because of time constraints.

Let me say first that 1.2 is a good time to try this game, since many improvements have been made. The patch is keeping my interest just above cancel-level. But I'm skeptical of this game's future, apart from diehard star wars fans. The postponement of rated warzones I think was the last straw for many of the 'hardcore' guilds. I know I'm on one of the most populous servers in this game, and primetime fleet has decreased from 220+ a couple months ago, to 140ish.
Have to be honest, game is boring me. Level design is a problem. Lifeless planets with drab dialog and writing apart from the main story anyway. Yay.
I had suspicions immediately though when I first got to Tython and noticed that the four padawan NPCs at the first base practicing were all copies of each other. Same clothes, same hair, same face, same saber. Lazy.
Another huge complaint; Why do the Fleet hubs exist? They are uninteresting, and also direct copies of each other. Compare Republic and Imperial Fleet to Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Don't make me laugh. Another aspect of this failure are the existence of Kaas City and Coruscant. Two fully fleshed out cities that you pass through briefly as a levelling area. Why aren't they the player hubs in this game? Makes no sense.
Blah.
Their immaturity/arrogance/lack of talent shows once again with this plague quest. Did they really not forsee that everyone would stand in a huge huddle, silently, while this stuff is spread? I couldn't believe it last night. I logged in and stood there like an idiot for 10 minutes, then though 'wow, this is some sweet gameplay' and logged out in disgust. Come ON.
To end this mini whine on a good note, the talk about the newer content in 1.2 is pretty positive. And the pvp is still engaging.

So after that little rant I logged on with some buddies for a nice 4 hour session over the weekend. They removed some of the annoying tedium, like not being able to mount your speeder as soon as you land on a planet. Doesn't seem like much, but when you're running slowly through the same boring hangar where nothing ever changes over and over, being able to mount and zip through it to quickly get to the actual content is a big deal.
Things maybe looking up?

It's a shame but I had to quit.
I really love the game but I can't find a group even on an extremely populated server like space slug. I'm more casual now, so time is of the essence for me when I log in. Not being able to find a group, or it being a struggle to do so, really left me little or no choice.(considering that's real important to me)
Great game though, lots of fun. I might come back later.

Did Luke quit when Darth Vader cut off his hand? Did Han quit when Jabba froze his smuggling/criminal butt in carbonite? Did Boba Fett quit when he flew off all willy-nilly and landed in that sand beast's mouth?
... Ok, don't answer the last one, but the others, they NEVER quit!
How is the rebel alliance supposed to save the Ewoks if you quit now?

If they would just add a cross server raid finder, 3/4's of the complaints about not being able to find a group would go away.

This was asked for over and over in the beta and they refused. And a large vocal portion of the playerbase didn't want them to. You know, the anti-WoW contingent every mmo now sees. Almost all the servers are now close to dead, with the exception of maybe a half dozen. This was also a basic, grave error in their launch and design, and something they should've easily forseen. They opened way too many servers at launch, with no server transfer tool implemented. So now everyone is stuck on their respective dying world, and cancelling.
Anyway, these are all issues that a company building the biggest mmo ever with the biggest budget ever should've been able to deal with. It's embarassing how over their heads they appear to be. All that time and money, and they deliver such a sloppy product on too many levels. Grrr.

For an MMO, I really like the single-player story. My Sith Juggernaut is level 27, and I've only been in 1 group so far.
I plan on playing it like a single-player game. Just go in and get my Juggernaut to 50, then my Bounty Hunter, then a Republic one...

I felt the same way at about the same level on my Marauder A few utterly tedious planets later...eh...the majority of my levelling has been done in warzones after that point. This way I skip the majority of the side quests and can just knock out the class/important quests by themselves. Gave up on their levelling content after one too many totally unnecessary 15 minute speeder runs through boring, static terrain on paths invariably hemmed in by vertical mountainsides. Yeah that's fun.
The Sith Warrior story is engaging enough I guess, but some of the other class stories are spotty from what I gather.
But hey, I'm seeing it through to 50 at least. Almost there. The new legacy stuff at least looks interesting from an alt point of view. Looks like you'll be able to unlock races cross-faction? Not clear on this.
If so, Sith Jedi coming up...if I bother to level an alt at all.

I plan on trying to level every class up to level 50. I'm cool with mostly this being a single player game when I play. People who get super-caught up in the endgame and grinding...they tend to take the dungeon running way too seriously to suit me.
I'm still enjoying the game.
The way I see it, it took WoW YEARS to get to the level of quality it has now, so I think SWTOR will eventually work out its bugs. I enjoy the game and the story, so I've kept my sub up even though I don't have much time to play right now.
Also, when I do play, I've never really had much trouble finding people to group with...I know a lot of people complain, but I really haven't had that trouble.

I'm on Sith Wyrm and have several characters including a level 50 Operative healed speced. Right now in mostly Columi gear. My guild of friends is dying and as I want to raid the endgame stuff just trying to decide if I should leave them or not. If any of you have questions about stuff I have run almost every flashpoint and Operation.

I'm still on Mind Trick, I am still enjoying the game, and update 1.3 is out.
Supposedly, two new classes are coming to the game...I think tie figher pilot is one of them? Did it come in update 1.3? I haven't been able to play much lately so I don't know for sure.
How many SR people are still playing and what servers are you all on? I might wind up transfering my character to the server that the SR guild is on, assuming you guys are still subbing.

i made the move from mind trick to correllian run. it is very populated.. actually too many on, as it creates a prob when you try to do the dailies. not enough of items and mobs to kill.
finding a group is not much a prob at this point, except for upper end raids if you aren't in a guild group that runs.
if having trouble getting in raid, find a better guild, or look at yourself, for why you get avoided.
