Parade Route Released

The parade route was just announced on the news.

It will begin at the Superdome and go down Poydras to Loyola, turn right toward the interstate. Turn left on Howard Ave to Lee Circle. Go down St. Charles to Canal. Take a left on Canal, go a few blocks and make a U-turn. It will then go back up Canal toward the river and turn right just past the casino. Take a left on Poydras to Convention Center Blvd, and continue on that until it gets to Mardi Gras world.

Crap. 5pm. I booked a flight out at 8:35 Tuesday night thinking the parade would be during the day. I don't know WHY I thought this. Being away from home so long clouds my perspective I guess.

This was going to be one of the highlights of my trip, but I don't see how I can swing it. I know it's not going to start at five on the dot, trying to get from downtown to the airport in evening traffic, security, etc.

That's the last flight out that night and it would cost at least an extra $200 to stay another day. I'm thoroughly bummed. Thoroughly.

It's a very tight schedule, but you could do it if you catch the very beginning, depending on how much luggage and check-in particulars. Since practically everyone in the city will be at the parade, you will have a clear shot to the airport if you have a cab ready. It can be done, but will be a close shave.

I'm really looking forward to this as well. Besides attending the NFCCG, this is the highlight of the year for me because we'll have the Lombardi riding shotgun on the Captain's Float.

Nah, I don't think the Colts are the team of team to use things like that. They are a well prepared and focused group that this won't make any difference. Maybe they can use the Super Bowl loss for motivation for next year though.

Where's the best place to park and catch this thing? I don't usually go to parades downtown. Is there a larger thread on this somewhere? Searching has been disabled.
