Whoever this guy is, but we just added another verbal...

"Running back Sione Palelei (5'10", 190) of East Ascension impressed enough today to earn an LSU offer and jumped on it. With his verbal, LSU now has 13 commitments. Check out Palelei’s highlight video in our Media Gallery." - Dandydon.com

Here's hoping this is as much as we ever hear out of the guy, because Fournette dominates the position.

I'm hearin that Sean White has given a verbal to Auburn which puts LSU in the lead for Harris' services I'm sure. That also puts LSU in a comfortable lead for several other players, including Quinn.

Palelei is well known among those who follow Louisiana recruiting. LSU did not recruit running back last year going all in on getting Fournette this year. The question has been who the second back is LSU would offer, Palelei or Darrel Williams from Ehret.

Some reports suggested Williams would leave camp with an offer. He is a bruiser and typical LSU back. Williams ran a 4.7 at the LSU camp and LSU supposedly cooled on him. Despite being 4 star rated he was not offered.

Palelei is more like a bigger Sproles, faster and shiftier than Williams. He has a dozen offers including Arkansas. He gives LSU the third down change of pace back they have lacked the last few years even with the stable LSU had.

He also is not a recruit Fournette will see as competition for playing time, although I doubt Fournette is worried about anyone. If Fournette stays healthy he will be the best running back in LSU history. And he will be at LSU unless something crazy happens.

Harris commits to LSU tomorrow at three. Quinn commits before the season starts. Godchaux reportedly committed today but says that's not true and he decides in December. Translation: Godchaux told Miles he is coming but does not want to lose the buzz that follows uncommitted recruits.

Blacknall was heavy lean to LSU but with Quinn, Dupre and Noil all probably going to LSU Blacknall may choose school with less competition at wr spot.

What kind of personality does this Harris kid have? With an early verbal to LSU, he can probably be a huge asset in bringing in a mega-load of WR talent to LSU like we haven't seen in years... can you imagine ALL of those guys growing up together and how epic they would be in 3 or 4 years? Talk about national championship time, yeah!

Harris supposedly is a very outgoing guy who will help LSU recruit when he hopefully commits today. Some have him leaning to Auburn but Auburn got commit from another qb this week, probably because they think Harris goes to LSU.

Some predict the "dominoes" start falling for LSU after Harris commits. The problem for LSU, and it is a good one, is that all the remaining players on their board are very highly recruited and players not worried someone takes their spot. LSU will always have room for Speedy Noil, Malachi Dupre, Gerald Willis, Daquille Williams, Tony Brown, Hootie Jones, Leonard Fournette and the like.

These are the players who can afford to wait until all star games to announce on national tv. Some get tired and commit early but many enjoy the hype and have confidence LSU holds a spot for them. If Palelei does not commit on the spot, he runs the big risk his spot is gone tomorrow.

Quinn is one who might go soon. LSU is on so many receivers that, as good as Quinn is, there is no guarantee his spot is there forever. Santos Ramirez is an under the radar low ranked cornerback from Evangel practically no big schools were after who blew the coaches away at the LSU camp and walked away with an offer. Given the targets LSU still has on board at db, that was a surprise to many. I cannot see Ramirez waiting beyond this week to commit. I doubt they hold a spot for him very long.

Exciting stuff for LSU. Brandon Harris is a guy that has shot up the charts as a dual purpose qb and top 100 player nationally in some rankings. Mett might be the last pure pocket guy you see starting at LSU for a while. LSU wants a qb who can throw well but can move better and run the read option.

I've heard Palelei compared to Kevin Faulk. I have no idea if it is true, but if he is even half the player Faulk was, he would be a great third down back and a great change of pace from Fournette.

On a side note, it's encouraging to see LSU go after a third down back type. Miles seems to have always favored just going with the big bruiser backs and never really used the RBs much in the passing game. I'm hoping that Cameron will change that and brining in a recruit that is the perfect fit for that position is a sign that the RBs will be more involved in the passing game.

Comparisons for me:

LSU = Dominick Davis

Pro = Darren Sproles - Same body type, great hands coming out of the backfield for wheel routes, drags, and screens, and has accerlation and wiggle to take it to the house after catch. Also can be compared to Ray Rice IMO.

I bet that ends up being very close. What an awesome class that would be. While I do not think we get everyone you list, there is no one you list that as of today i would not consider an LSU lean.

One probable that you left off is Santos Ramirez. I think all of those you have not currently committed are much higher rated than Ramirez by the services, but maybe not by LSU. LSU offered him this week and I think he commits soon. If he does not it must be a greyshirt offer.

Two other names to watch. One is Daquille Williams and the other Kenny Young.

I do not see the room for either one on your list but cannot see LSU turning down either one. Young is an LSU lean. Williams was a commit who might come back if home problems get solved. Maybe Chark gets greyshirt too?

You left off the kicker too. Cameron Gamble has been offered and has accepted. It is a numbers game for LSU this year and some very good players are going to get squeezed out.

Here is an analysis of Palelei, along with a highlight video from nola.com New LSU commitment Sione Palelei a versatile addition to Tigers' backfield | NOLA.com

He kinda reminds me of Dalton Hilliard but with a longer stride. Why nola.com chooses a photo of him fumbling is weird.

As far as Harris goes, he is a great speaker with a great attitude. I love how he states that he wants to be in La. HOF and not Alabama's or Ohio's. I think he can be a great recruiter and says he will. I hope he will get in Cam Rob's ear and lock him up for LSU.

Santos Ramirez commits to LSU. Ramirez is one of those guys that was completely under the radar for most recruiting services and earned his offer based upon his performance at the LSU camp.

Ramirez is a 6' 2" 170 lb corner who evidently impressed the coaches with his physical play. Most corners are 6' or smaller and there is a premium on the taller kids who have the hips and agility to play corner.

With so very few spots available and so many highly touted players still favoring LSU, Ramirez getting an offer at camp was a big surprise to a lot of people. It was no surprise he accepted.

170 is fairly small for 6'2". But he'll have a whole year to put on a few extra pounds. He must have really impressed during camp! I love those under-the-radar type guys.

Days until Christmas!
