SEC has pipeline to NFL
Mike Detillier / Houma Courier
If you’ve paid close attention to the NFL draft over the past few seasons, it’s obvious just how strong the Southeastern Conference is.
It is the leader in supplying talent to the NFL. The proof is in the numbers.
Over the past five years, the SEC has had 89 players selected within the Top 100 choice.
Those are the premium selections in each draft.
It’s clear the SEC has been the leader in getting some of the best talent to the NFL.
This year the numbers will grow to an even larger amount within those Top 100 picks for the 2010 NFL draft.
In doing evaluations for my draft book, I have seven players from the SEC (Tennessee safety Eric Berry, Alabama inside linebacker Rolando McClain, Florida cornerback Joe Haden, Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap, Tennessee defensive tackle Dan Williams, Florida center Maurkice Pouncey and Alabama defensive tackle Terrence Cody) with first-round grades.
