Grading the New Orleans Saints in their loss to Cleveland Browns
By Mike Triplett / Times-Picayune
Grading the New Orleans Saints' performance in their 30-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at the Superdome.
OFFENSE: 0 fleur-de-lis
Don't let the final numbers fool you. The Saints' offense was abysmal for three-plus quarters. They trailed 20-3 before they finally scored a touchdown. And they handed 14 points to the Browns, who returned two interceptions for touchdowns. Drew Brees threw four picks, and he also was sacked three times and consistently pressured. Tailback Chris Ivory ran for 48 yards on 15 carries before the Saints abandoned the run. The offensive line struggled, and guard Carl Nicks added two penalties to kill a promising second-half drive. The Saints' first two trips into the red zone ended with an interception and a field goal, before they later padded their red-zone stats with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. They were five of 15 on third downs.
