Givens Hoping to Be Part of Trend Among Saints Undrafted Free Agents

Earning a spot on an NFL roster is challenging enough, especially with the evaluation processes used by teams. Ending up on a 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent is an even more difficult task.
The New Orleans Saints have had success in finding undrafted players, guys that went unnoticed, that can perform at a high level on the field. The Saints finished last season with 18 undrafted players on the 53-man roster. Five of those 18 served in starting roles.
This offseason, the Saints have been looking at a new crop of undrafted free agents and evaluating their skills through a rookie minicamp, OTA’s and a June minicamp. One player who has impressed the coaching staff in the meeting room and on the field is wide receiver Chris Givens. The 6’2, 203 pound wideout agreed to terms with the team just two days after the 2012 NFL Draft, where his name was not called.
