I remember that.

Filtering it down to yay vigilante dad executes unarmed prisoner let's celebrate murder seems childish.

They begin talking to Jody at about 7:55.

And what exactly did that pedophile do to that man's son? He deserved exactly what he got.
My feeling when fathers want to exact revenge like this is that it does nothing to empower or heal their child and is instead all about them. However, in that moment, it had to be extremely satisfying for Gary and I'm glad he received no jail time.

Sometimes you have to put yourself in their shoes and ask "what would I do?".

"The psychiatrist Edward P. Uzee examined Plauché and determined that he could not tell the difference between right and wrong when he killed Doucet". I have no doubt that Dr. Uzee's determination here was influenced by his wanting to assist Gary in staying out of jail. Then again, I am also willing to completely believe it because I CAN'T put myself in a parent's shoes.

We lived in the same neighborhood as Gary and his family when I was growing up, I didn't know them personally but remember seeing the family around, Baton Rouge was much smaller then. My older brothers knew them pretty well.
When the shooting happened all I could think was what a nightmare it must have been for Jody and his parents for those 2 years.
I couldn't have done what he did but I could certainly understand it.

ETA: Just discovered Jody posts on Tiger Droppings

Which is exactly where the OP stole his thread title from.. There is a ‘Happy Gary Plauche Day !’ Thread on TD started a couple days ago…. And yeah, Jody posts all the time, he seems to have made a bit of a career in his real life out of being the victim in this case, i believe he has authored some books about it as well .

My view on the whole thing is that i applaud Gary Plauche for taking the action that he did that day, and that one less pedo sicko is a good thing…. but i am with @Tapxe , the whole celebration on various message boards is sorta childish, it shouldnt be as much a ‘party’ as it should be a somber remembrance of what happened to that poor kid all those years ago .. to me, the people who celebrate it and glorify vigilanteism are just virtue signaling, in real life i dont think most of them would have the cojones to actually go through with what Gary Plauche did that day .

No he deserved a trial and legal justice.

You're encouraging a dangerous mindset in your emotional lust for some imaginary satisfaction.

I say that as a survivor who struggled for nearly 50 to start healing because everyone wants to talk about punishing and no one wants to talk about healing.

If you really want to stop this kind of stuff, then you'll demand we teach our children proper emotional regulation so they can deal with all the bat sheet crazy of the world like 'yay vigilante mob justice' because we can't deal with our own sheet properly.

The problem with your approach is that it's too late. Hurt people hurt people and shooting them in an airport only serves to slate an emotional desire that is ultimately useless to preventing another victim.

I'm all for talking about this.

What did the boy have to go through to recover? How did he manage to overcome? Did he ever forgive himself? It did it rip him to shreds? I met him personally a few years back. I've walked in his shoes. I find your post disgusting and toxic and insulting to victims everywhere.

I've been watching some u tube interviews Jody's given. He talks about the whole ordeal very candidly and seems to have processed it all amazingly.

And that's worth celebrating. Not this crap we got.
