We’ve heard Sean Payton talk numerous times about the various offenses he studies across the league and how he watches every touchdown scored every week for new ideas.

Does he do the same with any college offenses?

The coach said he pays attention to that game, but not at the same level he does the NFL. But he said that’s why he has people like offensive analyst Jim Chaney on the staff.

“He’ll have some fricking play from Vanderbilt or Mississippi State, or there will be some (other play), and we try to apply it,” Payton said. “There’s sometimes where we come up with something, there’s a lot of creative minds, and they don’t have to be just in the NFL or college. Quite honestly, they very well could be at the high school level.”

The influence that college offenses are having on the NFL has grown substantially over the last several years. There are several reasons for this, but a lot of it has to do with technology and how readily available film from those games has become. ...

The Atlanta Falcons are facing serious tampering allegations with the possibility of losing draft picks, per ESPN reporter Adam Schefter. The tampering allegations stem from the Falcons’ signing of former free-agent Kirk Cousins.

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Falcons are currently under investigation for tampering. According to Schefter, the discipline for both teams is “likely to involve draft picks.” The league could announce disciplinary actions as early as this week.

Atlanta currently holds the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. They have a total of eight draft picks...

Will the Saints draft former college teammates again in 2024?

It may seem far-fetched to think the New Orleans Saints could pick multiple players from the same school in the 2024 NFL draft. After all, teams are picking from a pool of hundreds of players, and even if the Saints own nine selections that’s just a drop in the bucket of this year’s 257 picks. The odds of two college teammates continuing to compete together on the same team after turning pro can’t be good.

But it’s more likely than you’d think. In the 57 years (and 57 drafts) since the team was founded in 1967, the Saints have double-dipped by picking players from the same schools in 22 different drafts. And some years they went back to the same wells in the same draft classes by picking pairs of players from multiple programs. Obviously that’s easier to do in the early days when the draft had 17 rounds, or 12, rather than just seven like we’ve come to know during the last 30 years.

In total, the Saints have picked two players from the same school a surprising 33 times. They once drafted three players from Michigan in the same year (Paul Seal, Larry Cipa, and Don Coleman in 1974). Since Mickey Loomis began running their draft in 2003 they’ve double-dipped like this six times, and twice in his first year on the job. Most recently they drafted a pair of Ohio State Buckeyes in 2016, both in the second round: wide receiver Michael Thomas and safety Vonn Bell.

Who else has taken this path? Here’s the full list:

Besson’s Mock Draft 4.0: Keeping Michael Pratt in New Orleans

Over the weekend, I teamed up with Top Notch Sports to do a 32-person 7-round mock draft for this upcoming 2024 draft. Over the two-day event, content creators for all 32 NFL teams selected players over seven rounds for their team's needs and wants. Here is who I drafted based on how the board fell.

To my surprise, one of the best offensive tackles in the draft would fall into my lap at 14. Notre Dame’s Joe Alt and Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga were the only tackles taken before I selected Penn State’s Olumuyiwa Fashanu. Fashanu is one of the best fits for New Orleans and although I was...

The 2024 NFL Draft is now just four days away in Detroit.

The New Orleans Saints currently have the 14th overall pick but there have been rumors that they may move out of that spot. Whether they go up or down remains to be seen, but it feels likely that they will just stay put.

Who do you think they select? Do they address their major need of upgrading the offensive line to protect Derek Carr or do they look to get their QB another skill weapon?

Let us know your thoughts on the pick!

Three potential trade packages for the Saints in the NFL Draft

Nobody likes being more aggressive in the NFL Draft than Mickey Loomis. The New Orleans Saints are notorious for trading in the draft, and more specifically trading up to get a guy they like.

Historically, it hasn’t always worked out for them. In 2022, the Saints traded the 18th pick, a 2023 first rounder (pick No. 10) and a 2022 sixth rounder for picks 16 and 19 from the Eagles. They then packaged picks 16, 98 and 120 to move up and select Chris Olave, but used the other one to draft Trevor Penning. Then, in 2018, the Saints traded pick 27, 147 and their 2019 first rounder to the Packers...
