In the 2nd round of the 2016 NFL draft the New Orleans Saints selected WR Michael Thomas, out of Ohio State University. In 2016, Thomas set Saints rookie records for receptions (92), receiving yards (1137) and receiving touchdowns (9). In 2017 he earned a Pro Bowl nod with a franchise record 104 receptions for 1245 yards and 5 touchdowns. In 2018 Thomas looks to continue his dominance at the NFL level.

The main reason the Thomas' touchdown numbers were down in 2017 was because defenses could key in on him in the red-zone. Ted Ginn Jr. was a deep threat, and Coby Fleener, Brandon Coleman and Willie Snead did not scare defenses enough from keying in on Thomas. 2018 offseason acquisitions Cameron Meredith, Ben Watson, and 3rd round rookie Tre'Quan Smith should scare defenses a little more inside the red-zone. This sets Thomas up to have a monster season. From Desmond Trufant to Xavier Rhodes there wasn't a cornerback in the NFL safe from Cantguardmike last season and that is because Thomas doesn't rely on speed or strength to beat opposing cornerbacks he just knows how to get open. That's the reason he fell to the 2nd round in the first place was because he didn't have the 'measurables' to become an elite reciever according to draft pundits. This is the same reason Marques Colston fell to end...

May 8th 2018, the New Orleans Pelicans magical season ended in Oakland that night with a 113-104 loss to the Golden State Warriors. This capped an end to a remarkable run for the Pelicans that surprisingly started when Demarcus Cousins went down for the season with a ruptured achillies in a win vs. the Houston Rockets. Next the Pelicans made an A+ move acquiring the sharpshooting Nikola Mirtotic for the cost a 1st round pick and the luxury of shedding the remainder of the terrible Omer Asik contract. Anthony Davis then moved to the center position the remainder of the season and proceeded to go on one of the greatest tears in NBA history. Davis nearly caught up to James Harden in MVP voting by seasons end.

The 2018 off-season brought high expectations to keep this ascending team together but ultimately it was not meant to be. Rajon Rondo, who had a career resurgance and was one of the catalysts for the Pelicans turnaround, left to join LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. In a stunning move Boogie Cousins spurned the Pelicans two year 40 million offer to sign a one year 5.4 million dollar offer from the defending champion Warriors. Cousins felt that joining the Warriors allowed him the best chance of rebuilding his value, because being on such a strong roster he would be in no rush to...

January 14th, 2018. Minneapolis, Minnesota. New Orleans Saints at Minnesota Vikings. The Saints lead 24-23 with 10 seconds remaining. Vikings ball on their own 38. Spread formation, Keenum in the gun. He drops back, rolls out, and heaves a pass to the sideline headed for Stephon Diggs. Ken Crawley is a step behind in coverage but has Marcus Williams helping over the top. It should be a catch and tackle and time expires. The Saints are headed to the NFC Championship game right? Wrong. Marcus Williams made a rookie mistake and went for a big hit and whiffed, tripping up Crawley while Stephon Diggs waltzed into the end zone. As a fan I was crushed, see this is the 2nd time the Saints have ripped my heart out on my birthday, the other time? See Davis, Vernon. But that is beside the point. When Diggs strolled into the end zone two things were created: 'The Minneapolis Miracle' and the most hungry team heading into 2018, your New Orleans Saints.

2017 was a surprise season, no one thought much about the Saints, especially after an 0-2 start, but after a win in Carolina and a shutout of the Dolphins in London the team won 8 straight, eventually finishing 11-5 and NFC South champs. They went on to win their wild card game, capping a 3 game sweep of the rival Panthers. It was a great ride until the 'miracle' happened. The 2017 Saints were led by their strong running game and stout...
